Hey Mike...I'm so glad you're enjoying your time in Jordan. The country is full of treasures, but only for those who dare to dig for them :-)
By the way, you have a very good eye for photo shooting.
Why don't you write something about your trip to Rum?
Intrepid adventurer! I find your thirst for adventure inspiring. Where some would balk at running around a foreign country alone, you embrace it. Where others would think an attempt at a flooded canyon foolhardy, you think it sounds like fun. And... so far, so good, right? The experience is surely the richer as a result of your fearlessness.
Thanks for taking us with you!
INCREIBLE!!!!!! hOLA!!!!!!!!! ME ENCANTA VER COMO DISFRUTAS LA VIDA Y COMO APRENDES DIA A DIA!!!!1 TE MANDO UN ABRAZO ENORME! GRACIAS POR COMPARTIRLO!!!!!!1

intreresting abd excelent writing Mike, we just read all you wrote so far. For us its like hearing your voice. Its very intersting to read your reflections and how you try to understand how people think and act. Yoe have excelent way of wrinting and we as swedish speaking really enjoy your language. With love from your swedish family.
Hello Hey Mike, nice to know you are doing well. Keep up the blog, perhaps more pics of people, or a gallery of unsorted pics would be nice. Keep in touch.

Interesting Reflections I found your reflections on the conditions observed in the refugee camp as well as about the role and potentials for women to both interesting and well taken. Sensitivity to the potential negative results of unleashing even potentials based upon our values is important; ie women's leadership in Jordan
Amman a roll! I am so glad you are chronicling this experience and are sharing it with the rest of us. Your post made me even more enthusiastic about the Jordan Winterim. You are doing all of this great reconnaissance work, learning the ins and outs, finding he hidden treasures...and I plan to take full advantage. We do miss you on campus, though!
Sails Yeah, Mike, those look like lateen sails to me, the old Arab variety. I wonder if the style came over with the Muslim-influenced Portuguese sailors in the 1500s. Who's the chica with the guitar? Did you escape with her to the pousada? Aren't you sorry you did that? Don't you miss the snow?
Where are you when I need you? Mike, Ironically enough, I am reading your first blog about being stranded in the airport while I myself am stranded in an airport. I'm in Chicago, trying to get to Detroit, and out of luck. And NO MIKE BYRNE in the lounge to offer service with a smie. If you were here, I would definitely give you my opinion of the political situation in my country, mon! My only solace is that, in real time, you are not in Brazil today but back in DC where it's snowing! Ha! Ha, ha, ha! Your long-suffering buddy, Michael W.
ahhhh bitter envy I looked at your blog last night...and proceeded to pout outside on my balcony in the cold with a cancer stick. Just thought you should know that you contributed to me once again giving in to my unhealthy vice. Thanks. Nah, looks like you're having a great time. But let me tell you, I have no pity for you...so don't come back here complaining about Brazilian women and issues and all that jazz. Don't wanna hear it. :)
You're a carioca! I was there at the same time as you last year and have missed it so much this year... Fat Tuesday I was stuck in my microeconomics class... You can imagine how much I wished I was in Rio then! I was just telling Svetlana I wanted to see you this weekend, but you're obviously away, so we'll wait till you return. I would like to talk to you, though, so give me a buzz when you're back!
snif well,..there you are,...and...I am here in the snow !!!! I wanna go with you!!! its kind of funny...I`m brazilin an I`m here and you are american and you are there!!! how it can happen??????????????
kisses
have fun!!!

envy I'm so excited for you that you're having such a fabulous time (and envious of course...the closest thing to travel for me right now is the Travel and Leisure magazine on my coffee table). Keep up your blogs...I enjoy reading them, even though it makes me look desperately out my Cola windows to the dump trucks moving dirt around on the ground and the gray skies above (no flora-covered mountains in sight).
Great time at the beach That's so great that you went to Praia Grande and I could see that you had a wonderful time, specially staying in a family that seemed really nice and very warm too.
The weather was pretty good too!!! Glad to hear from you.
Beijos
Beads and a Bad Back no samba Hey what a life; enjoy because you deserve it! Hope all is well. I am recovering well from messing up my back the other day; just old fart stuff; but now it's better. Hope you through in a few moves for the old man. peace and love

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things can not be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."
