Such an appropriate name Sahai is absolutely gorgeous and has definitely brought sunlight to so many people's lives already. Congratulations to you both. It is so lovley to see the photo's, the first I have seen of Sahia as Chris's PC would not send the pictures he had as an attachment for some reason.
Lovely blog Al, giving all the emotions, brought tears to my eyes - sentimental ones.
Love to you all

good Assosa is one of the remote region what the people live in central ethiopia assum but as i percieves that At the movement all thing around the area roads, new technology products like computer etc some what full filled. and i give as a suggestion do more than this to come up this region as good example of all other region in ethiopia with combination of good relation ships betwen different race leave in this region. The first sign of development is the development of mental processing, accept others idea and come up in the same idea by disscusion rather than use other methods.
A fabulous entry! Funny and touching. Great stuff. I hope that one day Mulatu will be writing his own blog about his experiences of university and his work as a doctor.

manu fan lol hey there,
just wanted to share with you that there is a famous ethiopian song by tigest bekele. In that song there is a line which goes like this "ende bere shanga ke sew belay yawlach-hu". It roughly translates into - may you be on a higher position (compared to others that is) like a hump of the ox. It is a rather common blessing by elders of the family to the young members (we get the blessing when we do sth good of course-no free lunch). I don't know if my poor translation conveys the message well, but that is my lame effort. In denmark, they have a saying which translates into - you are not better than anyone (what a contrast). I am trying to underline that we have a very hierarchical culture indeed. Could it be the reason why we have so many bureaucrats?
Guess what? I am manu fan :-)

In fact as an "emerging region" within Ethiopia our area is pretty anonymous both internally and (clearly) internationally. With the mud strip airport being relaid with tarmac we had a 2 day 4x4 journey here from Addis. That said, Assosa is a regional capital, has a p... full info

This was a lovely read. I know he's still very much in all our hearts and two years on is sorely missed. x
