We left the city behind for the lushness of our first rainforest. Khao Sok is reputedly the oldest in the world, and we're not going to argue. Its certainly everything we imagined it would be - towering peaks covered in glorious thick green foliage, and from the veranda it was like a movie set - was it real or CGI?!

Morning Mist guest house is stunning, with neat lodges set in the forest. After a dip in the pool we had a group tubing session down the river. Brilliant fun despite Sally crashing with a passing rock and falling out! As we finished, around 4pm, we were reminded why it's called rainforest. The heavens opened like nothing else and carried on with the odd break till the early hours. Tremendous water torrents with dramatic thunder and lightning - great stuff!

On Wednesday - Sally's birthday, we took a day trip to Cheow Lan Lake. I'll let the photos describe its beauty. We trekked through the forest, explored the coral cave, swum and took a kayak out together. Cocktails back at Morning Mist made it a birthday never to be forgotten.
