We left Borneo behind us and spent our last three nights in Asia in Singapore. We arrived late the first night, and we leave for Australia very early on the morning of the 25th. So, we have had a very hectic two days trying to see and do as much as possible.
The day after we arrived we made our way to the Singapore Zoo, a must on our list of things to do and we spent the whole day there from dawn til dusk (Dawn is at 10am here and dusk is at about 6pm! haha...). This was a great day just strolling around at our own pace looking at the amazing animals. Singapore Zoo doesnt feel like a zoo at all, its a very relaxing place, very calm and extremely well organised. The Zoo has a published timetable of feeding times and shows for most of the animals that run every 10-15 minutes consectutively. We tried to see as many as possible, some of the more memorable ones include the Pygmy hippo, the polar bears, and the Primates Kingdom which is an area full of about 10 different species of monkeys. We got some fantastic photos and after
an exausting day, we walked to the circuit of the Gran Prix which is happening the day we leave. The entire city is alive with F1 fever.
This is a very easy city to do many things in a short space of time. The transport system here is so efficient and cheap that travelling from one end of the city to the other is no hassle at all. Our last day in Asia was spent travelling all over singapre city. We went down to the shopping district, the famous Orchard road, which consists of shopping centre after shopping centres and was at times, dizzying. We managed about two hours before goin to Sentosa Island (A man-made island resort & themepark). Here we literally spent our time going up on the skyride, and down on the luge. Great crack. We had some fantastic views of the city which we managed to glimpse as we were zipping down on our luges.
Then it was back for a final cheap dinner of noodles, packing up everything we had, and getting ready for the next stage of our journey, Australia!
Now, anybody who knows us, knows how intelligent and philosophical we
are. Therefore, after four months travelling, we have decided to pass on some words of wisdom to those who are still managing to read this blog.....
'LIFE IS A BOOK, AND THOSE WHO DO NOT TRAVEL, READ ONLY A PAGE'.
