The chair lift to the top of the mountian
This was in Nanjing and the view was awesome. So it was very hot in Wuxi but the day after it poured down...so hard all the people travelling on their mopeds had these massive waterproofs on which also covered their motorbikes!!
Today we stayed in olina's house finalised our travel plans and then went into town on the night time after eating Chinese dumpling which were yummy.
The next day we woke up to more rain and got a lift to the bus station where we caught the bus to Zhenjiang (where Olina's old university is). We arrived at 1130am and put our bags down in the hostel after meeting Olina's boyfriend. We went to Olina's university which was like the size of a small town..no joke, we went to the top of one of the accommodation blocks and you could'nt see the end of the uni it is so big. We met Olina's friends who were nice. Most of them are studying english and so we could hold some conversation. That afternoon her friends wanted tog o to karaoke, which is strangley popular here. You pay for a whole room/booth to yourself and everyone sings away whilst eating and drinking.
Olina's friends then went back to uni
and we walked arounf the city which was very nicem we walked around a park and saw the river. We went out for something to eat with Olina and Her boyfriend for my favourite Chinese meal, its called chafing dish, it is hot and spicy sauces separated and put on heat in the middle of the table. You then order the dishes of food you want and either cook them in the hot or spicy side! Must say i am alot better with chopsticks than when i first came!
The next morning we got up and caught a train to Nanjing ( the Capital of the Jiangsu province). When we arrived me and Daisy braved it and went to buy or tickets for the overnight train to Xi'An for 2nd of July, with very little madarin and pointing at chinese symbols we managed to get our ticket!!
Nanjing is lovely but also crazy here! The are lights and sky scrapers a bundle. Yesterday we put our bags in the hostel anf then caught a bus to the bottom of a mountain which overlooks the city. We caught Cable cars to the top of the mountain and it beautiful, the sun was shining but it was'nt too hot. We really enjoyed this however when we got to the top we realised we only had five minutes before the last cable car down so we didnt get much chance to to takew the view in from the veyr top. However the cable car journey down allowed us to soak in thw view of the sity sky scrapers, lakes and general scenery.
After the cable cars we went in search of some runis of and old temple, however after several buses we still could'nt find it so we ended up in a park. It was funny as lots of kids here seem to roller balde and there were some as little as 3 on them!! SO cute. Also badminton seems to be played int the parks and even in the streets.
After out rest in the park we ventured to the city at night and took in the bright flashings lights on alot of buildings and grabbed some food. Having a wicked time, any tips on how travel in China without speaking mandarin or understanding the characters/symbols very welcome!!
