any information on travelling/volunteering in India and Thailand very much appreciated!

Hi,

I am looking at travelling for 12 months starting next Jan. The plan is to travel India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Aus and New Zealand.
I would really like to do some volunteering in India or Thailand ir both. Every company I have looked into so far have been charging crazy amounts, was wandering if anyone knows of any companies that charge very little/are free/except donations etc.
