I woke up early this morning. I had a little diahrea. I also took advantage of getting up early and I wrote in my diary. Glenn reminded me that I hadn't uploaded my photos, but I'll do that tomorrow. I didn't take any photos on this day.
We had a very relaxing day. Usually I try to play the trivia games, and the stuff where you learn how to fold a napkin, making flowers, etc, however I decided not to that much on this cruise. So, today was very relaxing.
I told Glenn that if I wasn't in our stateroom, then he should find me in the library. I got up took a shower, and then proceeded down to the library. Glenn showed up about an hour later. We went to the main dining room. I ordered cottage cheese and fruit, (didn't like the cottage cheese, it was so too dry) and omelet.
CRUISECRITIC After breakfast, we made our way to the La Cucina Restaurant where there was a reception for the CruiseCritic folks. This is an 'on-line' grouping that I joined about 6 weeks. It is for seasoned cruisers that get together for parties (mainly drinking) and other functions. We met several folks. Donna and her husband (wearing an Alabama shirt), they live in Decatur, Alabama (where Johnny and Maria live). We also connected with David and his brother Rick Love who we will be sharing an excursion in New Zealand. The Love brothers are from Hot Springs, Ark. David is an attorney and Rick is a CPA. Very intelligent guys - we look forward to connecting with them along on the cruise.
There was some Q and A. Of course the question came about the Azipod. One of the captains tried to explain the problem. This NCL has 2 Azipod. It provides directions and electricity for the ship. Currently we are operating with just one. There was a malfunction about a month ago, so there has to be a repair where the ship is dock for a longer time. There have been some technicians flown in from the company that manufactures the Azipod. Because of the problem, our itinerary has been changed. We'll have a longer stop in Singapore. Hopefully the problem will be fixed. There are several folks that were very vocal in this displeasure for NCL. Glenn and my take on it - "it is what it is".
At the meeting, I was able to announce that there will be a worship service on Sunday - 7pm-8pm (because we'll be a port). In our previous cruises, we have been able to have the meeting announced in the printed "bulletin" - aka Free Style Daily, but it will be not PRINTED in the FSD.
During the afternoon, I took a long nap. Glenn went down to the Bar to watch the Australian tennis match and to get something to eat.
Glenn and I went to the atrium at 5:30pm so we could have an opportunity to met the captain and have our picture taken. The captain is Sweedish however lives in Philippines. He said that he would be our captain from Hong Kong to Sydney, and then continuing as our captain to Auckland, New Zealand. He also said that he would take the NCL on up to Singapore again. Nice man.
We had dinner in the main dining room. I had lasagna and Glenn ate roasted chicken. Afterwards we headed to the 7pm showing. The singer was from Australia and sang songs of Divas - like Barbara Streisand, Shina Twain, Dolly Parton and others. She was very good.
As we were sitting there waiting for the show to begin, we sat next to an older couple (70ish) from England. We talked about the different folks on the ship. They mentioned they had 1 luggage that was held down in security. Evidently the women had packed an iron in her luggage. It was confiscated. She was also disappointed that there was not a kettle in her stateroom too. We concluded the iron was probably a fire hazard. She also mentioned other luggage were "held up", because one suitcase was full of liquor bottles - guess you can't bring those on board, and you have to purchase booze from NCL.
