Delhi to Hanoi
The trip to Hanoi was a little bit taxing for us as we left Delhi early morning on the 30th and got a flight to Chennai on arrival there we head to the train station and got the local train (not the 3rd class but the actual local train this is interesting its a bit like a cattle farm inside metal cages and stirrups to hold onto so when the train is moving everything rattles...we had a couple of guys in our carriage that were train hopping each station they would get off and sit down and at the last min they would run and jump on...I guess they get off to see if there is anyone checking tickets. After this we got off and changed to a aircon long distance train left which took 6 hours and we arrived in at the hotel at 9.30 pm then we went and got some dinner at the same place that we ate on our first night the food was still great but they commented on the fact that Mike was not happy like last time we came. The next morning we went on a local bus to the
only hindu temple that we have seen in India it was massive with 21 structures and its really colourful I love all the different gods that they have in there religion, there is many people here and lots of colourful sari's we also get to see a Saint he is the Saint of Shiva and he has dedicated his life to her! We soon got to hot and head back to get another bus back to Trichy (easier said than done eventually found a bus) this bus was a real India bus with so many people on but yet there's always room for one more....there were people hanging out the front and back door and in the space that we usually fit one row of people down between the chairs there is two overall the experience was great and pretty funny from our cushy seats at the back I wouldn't want to be the people getting on later in the piece. We got back to the hotel have a quick shower and head to the airport for our flight to KL then a follow on to Vietnam! We discussed and decided not to book a hotel as we have a
short stopover of just 5 hours and by the time we go through customs then we wont have much time...so the flight is delayed (no worries decreases waiting time in KL this is why awe have time between flights) so we slowly made our way through customs ....actually the slowest trip through customs as the lady and man there decided they would do the standard chat that you get on the street in proper questions (by our standards) and all so it sort of went like this
-Where do you live? Australia -How long have you been in India? 21 days -Did you like India? Yes -Where have you been in India? Amritsar,Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Chennai -How much money do you earn? (ahhhhh what the) oh we are just interested you don't have to be exact just approximately a month.....took a while and gave a random figure and this was the questions to follow -how much are you monthly expenses? Do you have children? Oh this is why you can travel....so when will you have children? What type of job do you do? Why do you have a ring when you get married....we give a necklace like this
one -20 mins later we left and carried on through security where one of my shoes beeped and the other didn't (random) one shoe got taken off and put through scanner then the people at the scanner wanted both shoes and they wanted to know what was in there....hmmm i don't know you have the scanner buddy!! We eventually get to KL at 1.30am 1 1/2 hours after scheduled arrival and we head outside to starbucks to get a coffee and free wifi - closed ok so we will go get something from fast food place closed...oh well lets just go wait inside-closed....the airport is closed until 4am what the??? so luckily I know that the places down the way are 24hour so we head down there and get KFC (MIke had to scrap together all his change and pull in favours to get us some food to share but manages very well...we head back down to the airport and its open thankfully we check in then wait for 35mins for customs to open when we get into the lounge there is nothing open there either and use the free wifi we head off at 6.30am for Hanoi. On arriving
to hanoi we get our transfer to the hotel I calculate we have travel 34hours out of 43hours we are almost asleep on our feet and head up to sleep for about 6 or 7 hours sleeps good.
