Day one on the great Vietnam trip starts with a short flight from Bangkok where we spent 8 hours on ground after a 13 hour flight from New Zealand. The joys of modern travel. The new airport at Bangkok is amazing, forming a sharp contrast with the airport at Hanoi. At least we know we haven't got swine flu as we have been scanned twice in 24 hours.

Hanoi traffic is an experience that is high on adrenlien rush as you brave hundreds of motorbikes who move around you like the curent of a river as you slowly but steadly cross road - he who hesitates is lost.

There are 3 million motorbikes in Hanoi - most seem to be on road you are crossing.
