Ho Chi Minh City (or is it Saigon???) is less than an hour away by bus - close enough even for a day trip. From TDM the 616 bus takes you right into the centre. Sadly for us, one never appeared and we took a small minibus instead which took us to the outskirts of the city. We then had a short taxi ride in.

Thanks for posting the link to that Saigon Kitsch store. I inadvertently stumbled upon it a couple of years ago while walking along Le Loi St, but lack of funds compelled me to leave empty handed with the intention of returning at some future date. When I went back a month or two later the store had closed down and had obviously moved to its current location. Cheers :)
