On this trip I traveled with my parents, sister and nephew to Quảng Ngãi province and visited the village where my father was born. It has been a long time since my last visit, so things have changed. My father was born in a wealthy family in the Central Vietnam and many poor people in the village worked on my gr... There are two types of Bánh ít cakes. When you open the leaves, the black ones are sweet, and the white ones are salty. Both have green bean inside. (Bánh ít có hai loại mặn màu trắng và ngọt màu đen với nhân đậu xanh giống như bánh gai).

Interesting account
Thanks for the comments about your family history Hong Ha. You always make me want to go to the places you write about. Last trip I planned to go to Quang Ngai to see the museum of the My Son massacre but I couldn't find a bus to get there. Your information will make it possible next trip. It was a very sad event but made a big difference to the course of the war as thousands of Americans were so horrified they stopped supporting the American war and ca Led for the US to withdraw from Vietnam.

Hi Hong Ha, It is wonderful to read your travel blog to your father's birth place. It was very sad to have Vietnam divided & families separated during war. However, it is great to move ahead now as a country after unification. Your nephew seemed to have a great time at the beach :)
