road in cambodia
always busy, always something to eat on the way Long time no speak!
The last entry I believe was from Siem Reap in cambodia two weeks ago and a lot has been seen and done in this time. After seeing the amazing ruins of Angkor we headed to Pnom Penh the capital, which was a fair journey but wasting no time as soon as we got there we jumped into a Tuk Tuk and headed for the killing fields. For those of you who don't know it's the place where the horrific mass genocide of the Red Khmer occured with over 1 million deaths. Was obviously quite grim but interesting and educational at the same time, life at home may be a bit dull but at least we are safe and we have rights. After this our driver said did we want to go to the firing range, not sure if it was part of the attraction said yes, about 10 minutes or so down some very remote roads and we were a little hesitant especially with villagers chopping fruit with massive machetes and eyeballing us, but we stuck with it. Turned out it was a real range and they produced a menu with the available guns, fired
spiderman!
are you still hungry? an AK but enough of that as Amanda was not thrilled about it.
After Seeing the capital we headed to Vietnam by bus for about $8. Usual journey the border from Cambodia to Nam is much better than Thailand to Cambodia. So we have been in Nam for 2 weeks now and started in Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon) and have crammed in as much as possible. We checked out the floating market at the Mekong, crawled the Cu Chi tunnels, cruized around the highlands for a couple of days with the Easy Riders which was cool. On the bikes we got to see the real Vietnam and loads of things that would have been missed on a bus/train like tea/coffee/pepper/rice plantations, silkworms, basket weaving, minority people/villages and many waterfalls and attractions. We have spent a bit of time in Nha Trang on the coast which has been a mini holiday in our trip, very relaxed and even managed to do some scuba which was great and Amanda had loads of fun snorkelling and bobbing around on the surface. We are currently in Hoi An a great place with a slow pace and authentic feel with loads of traditional
skulls!!!!
Shivers down the spine! shops and trades all around. Next we will be in Hue-Halong bay-Hanoi which should also be sweet as.
Peace and love you party people
