James ?bustion thing
where they use a flame to get the air out of the cups and then stick them to your back. Leaves great hickies. Hello to all.
As I didn't update the fevers are gone and everyone seems to be back to normal. The spots on Reegan are all gone too.
Hoi An is slowly shutting down as everyone prepares for Chinese New Year. Many tailor shops are not taking orders for clothes due to the holiday and some shops have closed already until the New Year. We have decided to stay until the new year too. No use getting to a new city and wandering around with everything closed. At least here we seem to have seen much of it.
Found a better hotel that will have a room for us tomorow. The one we are in is acceptable but the rooms are sort of dark as there are not enough lights and the room is crowded. Two beds, both against the end walls with a night table in between does not really leave any room. Kyle has been doing his homework out on the patio but it is a struggle to get him to put any real effort into it. I guess when we get home there will be some serious cracking down in the evenings and on spring break

getting our pineapples prepared for eating from a real pineapple boat to get him caught up with his class. It is hard to give him help as we are often on the go and by the time we get back in the evenings and get them all cleaned up for bed (man they can get filthy) it is 9:PM and bedtime, so there is no real time for homework. Might be easier when Ty and Reegan are also in school too b/c then they can all do homework at the same time instead of T&R watching cartoons while Kyle has to work and would rather be watching with them.
Found out tonight that the Cafe 43 next door to our hotel is closing tommorow for the holiday. Sucks as the food is so good, good prices and good service. Now we have to find a new place to frequent.
Got some responses from hotels in Hue that said they have rooms available for us on the 18th or 19th. Will have to commit to one so we can get pick-up and have a place to go right away. Would be easier that way especially in the mid day heat.
James was walking with Ty and Reegan down

One of the many homes along the delta and its tributaries the road and Ty asked to go back and look at some plants he seen in someones yard. They went back and were peering through the gate when the Vietnamese grandfather came out and invited them into the house. They must have been discussing all the flowers for sale for TET as the young lady there (has a 2 year old daughter) said that they would wait until the New Year as the prices will go down then. When James left he had a gal from the hotel we are moving into tomorow buy some Gladiolas on his behalf (to get a better price) and then we went and gave them to the family. They were tickled and quickly put them in a large vase on the table. A short time later when Kyle and I came by we were all invited in to meet the family, have tea (boys were fed candy) and then the grandpa went out to get some film for his camera so he could get pics of his family and ours. They also gave us their email and mailing address. Other than that a mellow kind of day. Did some wandering in the markets and

Thursday Feb 15.
Wandered around today. More shops are closed but there are enough open to make a walk worth while and of course there is all ways food. Noticed when we went by that Vietnamese families house today that the flowers James bought are still in the center of the dining room. We moved into our new hotel. No breakfast and internet has a charge but the rooms are bright and there are 3 double beds. Not certain but I think the price is about $12 night.
I got an email in my box today from Canadian Living Magazine that i won a $175 spa kit; bathrobe, nailpolish, pedicure stuff, movie coupons, and femine hygiene products 😊 Cool, so something should be coming to the house in about 1 1/2 weeks Carrie. (I won the gingerbread house making products from Canadian Living in Dec. too) .
Tonight we found a place to eat and there was a group of about 20 Vietnamese men who were New Years celebrating drinking beers on the little kids patio chairs that are provided in many local places. James and Kyle were invited to join them so

homestay host cooking our supper after supper Ty and Reegan and I walked home and splurged on bags of M&M's when James and Kyle socialized. I think he may have got some pics. James said that the one he spoke most with is a resturant manager and earns $100 a month. He has invited us to his house on New Years day to meet his family. James is to see him in the AM tomorow and give him the card to our hotel so he can pick us up. That should be cool. Now we have to think of a nice New Years gift to take. Apparently the person that crosses your home threshold on New Years day is the one who will bring the families luck for the year head so the first person to do so has to be desirable. Wonder if we will be their first.
Cheers and happy New Year
