When I got to Vietnam, Trang informed me that she had several trips planned. One was to Nha Trang. I have been to Nha Trang several times and have never tired of the city. It is one of the most beautiful places in Vietnam and has possibly the best municipal beach. Today, Danang has used about all of "China Beach" of TV fame, with almost continuous Casinos and mega resorts. Nha Trang has done the opposite. Its five-star beach is accessible about everywhere. In Nga Trang, you have the beach, strip park, road and then the hotels. All you have to do is rent a hotel, walk across the road, through a strip park and your at the beach. While at the beach, you can rent a chair and sit there all day, and peddlers will serve you about any kind of food you want plus a massage on the beach, manicure, etc. I'm not much of a beach lover, but this sounded good to me after a 28-hour flight in an airplane. Especially the massage, being out in the open. I figured the gal would have to give a good massage and nothing else. No boom, boom, which you can expect in most of the massage parlors. I couldn't wait to get to that beach.
Sarah had other ideas, like staying up crying and yelling until three in the morning. She was right next door, and you could hear her all through the car. If that wasn't enough to keep me, awake, Trang seemed to come in the room about every thirty minutes to ask if I was alright. If I coughed, I got a visit from Trang.

Trang said I would get the VIP room on the train all to myself. I didn't get the VIP room but a room with a couple of newlyweds. They didn't use the two bunks provided but used only one bunk, curled up like a rope. When morning came they took 10 minutes just to untangle themselves.

We arrived at Nga Trang, totally wore out. However, as Trang promised we got a nice hotel across from the beach. I got the room in the hotel where the lines were crossed. The more you turned on the hot water the colder it got. I'm not too bright, and it took me the two days to figure it all out.

I really had my mine set on the beach across the road but Trang informed me that she had arranged a taxi tour of Nha Trang. So we rode around all afternoon looking at Nha Trang. I made a request, to go to Alexandre de Yersin's tomb, which was only 12 miles out of town. The taxi driver said it was 60 miles so that killed that idea. When night came, instead of eating at one of the good restaurants around our hotel, they ask the same taxi cab driver, and he took us to the outskirts of Nga Trang. The food was so bad there that we moved down the street to eat.

We also took a trolley tour to an island that was a marvel of entertainment. The trolley ride itself was amazing, going from the mainland to this island. The island was all built up with water slides, world of fun type entertainment etc. It probably had a hundred shops and eateries on the island. All first class. There was a lot of walking involved but we did get to swim there. The beach was rocky but the water was clear, so we jumped in and had some fun. I show some video clips of the entertainment that went on in the restaurant we ate in. They had some good entertainment which I didn't even expect. One one of the short clips you can see Lan trying to pull Sarah off the stage. Little Sarah got caught up in the drama of one show where a character died, and she rushed up on the stage and ask: "Why did he die." That night we went to a gigantic show outdoors of water, light, fireworks and music. I really can't describe it, but it was amazing.

To my surprise, President Obama showed up on one of our boat tours. At least, he looked like President Obama. He had the same face, famous grin, ears, haircut, teeth, only he looked a little shorter than our Obama. This is where the similarity ends. This Obama was terrific. His business was entertaining, and he was a pro. He could also Captain the boat and was good at that too.

This Obama told the truth at every turn. What he said he would do he did. He told us the course he was taking and stayed on course. He never tried to divide the audience against each other. He gave the audience what they hired him to do and that was to entertain and have a safe course. Every word he said was the truth. This Obama was real.
