We were kind of hoping to sleep in one of the days, but it wasn’t today. Lynn was up early for 6:15 Tai Chi on the deck. Kirsten and Chester stayed in the room sleeping. At 7:45 we got a call from the crew because they were worried that we hadn’t been up for a light breakfast yet. they are determined to make sure we get fatter. So we dragged ourselves up to the dining room for a very light breakfast of fruit and muffins. Today’s excursion was to a floating village in the Bay. One could kayak or take a small row boat paddled by a local to view the village. Lynn took to the row boat and Kirsten and Chester kayaked. Of course Kirsten and Chester didn’t even make it to the village, they took a left turn through some islands and explored elsewhere. And Kirsten wanted to go all the way around the island, but Chester freaked out and wouldn’t let her. Chester of course had visions of being lost in the bay. Kirsten didn't want to listen to her cry so she turned back. That was our only trip for the day. We went back to the
boat, showered, packed and checked out. They did serve us brunch before we made it back to the dock. From there it was back to Hanoi, a little over three hours and of course one shopping stop. Lynn noticed that our driver, who was awesome, was falling asleep during much of the drive. He drives back and forth from Hanoi every day, and this drive is brutal. He had just driven 4 hours from Hanoi with passengers for the next cruise and immediately turned around and took us back the other way. Everyone here works very hard and does everything they can to make sure our needs are met. When you fill out a comment card the come and track to down to understand and see what they can do to make your experience better. Even when you say it was good they want to know how to make it better.
We checked back into our hotel and back into our same room, home sweet home. For our last night in Vietnam, guess what we did? Try again. Yep, we went out for massages, dinner and shopping. The hotel suggested a nice spa and we got a free taxi
ride to the spa. We were explained the services and decided on a synergy massage that mixed Thai, deep tissue and aroma therapy. It was a 90 minute massage and we also got a free extra 10 minute foot massage. This was a new experience for Lynn. Not getting a massage, but getting a massage with both Kirsten and Chester in the room. The massage was definitely different. We had these 80 pound women walking all over our backs, rear ends, and legs. The stretching was awesome, but it was still different. Lynn wasn’t prepared to have the massage lady press her knees into her butt and on all fours on her back. She might have been more tense after the massage then before it.
The massages were done after it was all said and done, for 3 – 90 minute massages, plus tip was under $100. Nice. We had dinner at a great place just down from the spa. This culture knows how to cook and knows their ice cream. Our favorite is cinnamon. It is just ridiculously good. We had some last minute shopping to do and then back to the hotel. Our last night in Vietnam
was a good one, and we actually didn’t sweat our balls off for once. (we still were sweating just not as bad as the rest of the week) Tomorrow we are off to our third country. Good bye Vietnam, Hello Sri Lanka.
