Day 14
Today is Saturday; therefore a free day. I was up and about quite early as I came home early last night due to the leg! I got all my washing done then went down for breakfast. Rachel, Matt, Roisin, Becky and Hanna also came down for breakfast. I do feel like I missed out last night, but it couldn't be helped due to my leg trying to be a balloon! Tales of the night, and some photos unfolded, it sounds like they all had a really good time. Maybe next time for me. This morning the leg is showing small signs of improvement, the antibiotics seem to be helping.
As it was a bit of a late start for most, I went out for a walk round on my own, after about an hour, I bumped into Lilley, we carried on browsing the hundreds of shops, stalls and street vendors. We then bumped into Nadia and Brittany, and Roisin joined us too. It is strange that in a city so busy,5 of us managed to bump into each other! As a small group we went to our regular coffee bar to people watch for a while. He
served up the best iced latte I have had in ages! I enjoyed it so much. Note to self: I will have another one of those!
We headed back to the hotel to meet with the group as we had arranged to go to the cinema to watch Batman. We hired 3 taxis at 12 O'clock, then off we went. The cinema is situated on the 6th floor of a very nice shopping centre. Tickets, drinks and popcorn bought, we all went in. Everyone enjoyed it. A good afternoon was had by all!
On our return, I decided to go out for walk, and a browse on my own. I walked for a couple of hours. It's amazing where the time went! After walking for, what seemed like quite a while, I sat at my favourite coffee bar with my iced latte, and just watched the world go by. Then I set off again, I found lots of streets that I hadn't come across before. The shops here seem to be clustered with similar shops; therefore we have our names for streets e.g. Shoe St, Dead St,(they sell plaques for graves!) etc. tonight I
came across Baby St, Towel St, and Sweet St....very novel! I continued walking and came across a small fun fair, then finally back to the lake that I recognised. Walking around the lake at night was so lively. It was all lit up, lights in the trees, lining the main road, and the small bridge to the pagoda was all in red lights. It looked amazing. I stumbled across, what I have now named 'dancing square'. There was pockets of people with music playing and they were doing varieties of dancing. I was amazed by it all, so sat and watched. One of the dancing teachers saw me watching, he took my hand and pulled me onto the dancing area, I wish I could have got a picture, but as I was alone, that was a bit difficult! I did take some photos, but not sure if they are clear enough, but I will put them up anyway! I reallyenjoyed joining in!
I set off back to the hotel, then heard my name. It was Nadia, Renske, Britty and a new girl called Linda. Linda is staying at our hotel on her own so they invited her
along. We went off to a bar overlooking Hanoi centre. It was so busy tonight. The traffic, and the pedestrians were so mingled, it looked like a grid lock, but it was moving, there was never a clear patch on the road!
Tomorrow my alarm is set for 5am, I am going to watch T'ai Chi by the lake....if I get up!
