Trip to Perfume River. Our tour group have all left, so we are on our own. Our last tour is to the pergodas on the Perfume river. A 2 hr trip by bus to the Perfume river, next an hour boat ride upstream then a rather steep walk up a mountain to see a variety of pergodas, all religious. Some were destroyed during the war and are being rebuilt.
We made it over half way before the heat and our legs gave out. Their is a cable car going up!!! Not for marty!
Anyway an interesting trip.
The lady paddling our steel boat does the 8km round trip without stopping. By the way you do need to tip them as they are known to keep you in the middle of the river until you do. A couple of dollars for their work is not much to ask.
Some people haggle over a couple of thousand dong only about 20c Australian.
A beautiful place to visit, mind you seeing a TV antenna stuck in the mud on the side of a river a little unexpected.
Came back to Hanoi tired and hot. The shower worked tonight though!
