This was pretty much what we did most of our time. It was cold and the fire helped.

I was delighted when other travelers showed up. Went spent the night drinking local wine with Mama Chi and Mama Song, while her husband went to sleep. Probably tired from a long day of work. Afterwards, the other two travelers asked for opium. They bought some and tried it, but said it was too weak. That night we sleep on the upper part of the house. It was so cold that at night I slide myself closer to the two for body heat.

It was a very basic meal of rice and boiled chicken, but delicious. It felt as though this was a treat for everyone.
