We all slept late this morning. Mum is usually up at 7 for a Swim. This morning she didn't wake until 8 so no early swim. Down to breaky. More people today so a bigger breakfast which is always great. Started with the cocoa pop things as usual then proceeded to my other 5 courses. They had moved the bacon and sausages and ham to a different section so we didn't see it until we had finished. Oh well - plenty of other things to eat - but maybe not the red Thai curry!!! Picklets today had small brightly coloured jelly square sort of things in them today so holes were quickly dug to excavate them out!!!! They had lime today so we were able to have sugar and lime juice on them (next best thing to sugar and lemon juice)
Mum headed down for a swim and Melissa and I headed down a bit later - after spending time trying to set up Mel's new iPhone as her last one got waterlogged in Vietnam. I rang and we spoke to Peter quickly then just sat and relaxed. It did get quite steamy after a while (it had rained early
this morning) so mum and I went for a swim while Melissa headed back up to the room. I said to mum I would lie in the sun for a few minutes so my bathers would dry out as it is otherwise way too cold to go into air conditioned room and you can't sit down on the beds as bathers are wet. A few minutes was no more than 10 minutes - but looking at me now you would say that I was out in that sun for a few hours!!!
Lunch in the room. Rest on our beds reading papers, writing diaries or playing iPad games. Out at about 4 for a swim - the first time it was noted that I was a bit red. We stayed in pool for nearly an hour then out and back to room for showers before dinner. Ok - maybe I'm a bit redder than I thought. Whoops
We went to Aree's for dinner - a little Indian restaurant around the corner that we always love (where Mel and I had lunch on Wednesday). We had the Butter Chicken - mild which was so so nice we could have all gone back
for thirds, mixed vegetables which were tasty - until the heat hit, (she didn't realise 'mild' was meant to be for every dish!!) and the curry potatoes - which Melissa and I have been dreaming about for four years!!! HOT HOT HOT!!! Yummy but HOT. The cooling soothing watermelon at the end of the meal was so very much appreciated. It did cool the mouth down. I hate the pips in the watermelon though and could only be bothered pulling some of the pips out so ate around the rest - leaving big chunks of watermelon on my plate. Mel had 30 pips after she finished all her watermelon. I told mum she could finish my watermelon if she wanted which she did - just putting the chunk in her mouth then carefully pushing the pips to the edge of her mouth to discretely spit them out - well - until the child in her came out and she spat one at Mel hitting her. The look on poor Mel's face was priceless. If I had said her grandmother was going to spit at her she would not have believed me. It had mum and I in hysterics and had
Mel trying to unsuccessfully retaliate.
We went to the Seven Eleven on the way back home where Melissa caught mum checking out the pregnancy testing kits..... Melissa and I bought a 15 baht ice cream in a cup each - our first and last time we do that!!!
Back in the room we didn't need the lights on in the room - I was glowing enough to see everything!!!! No idea how I can be that bad after such a short time!!! Put cream all over arms and legs then onto bed to send Pa a postcard via the iPhone app - sent a photo of Melissa and Nana with mama from Aree.
Hoping to sleep now but my legs are on fire at the moment. Best be in long pants all day tomorrow!!!!!!!
