Chiang Mai trek

sorry for the break in enteries but its been quite the mission to find internet.

so the chiang mai trek... we left the hotel at around 9 and arrived in the middle of the jungle 2 hours later. there were 11 of us (french, canadian, australian,dutch english and us) and the guide. we were tossed out of the bakkie and sent into the jugle on our trek to the camp. we trekked through the jungle for about 1.5hours until we reached our first pit stop... a waterfall. we all jumped at the chance to cool off before we set off for the next 1.5hours.
the trekking wasnt too hard but we really did feel small amongst such tall trees and rapid rivers. we arrived at our little hut in the jungle, the place we'd call home for the night. it was very simplistic. no beds only wooden floors and no mattresses, no hot water etc... but we were treated to a huge traditional thai dinner. it was amazing! we spent the rest of the evening by the bon-fire talking about religion and politics and our own ways of life. quite interesting to see how differently people think in different countries....and how much australians can drink!!!
the next day we set off on a trek again and then it was a long drive to the elephants. we spent the afternoon riding an elephants and white water rafting... very fun!
our trek had come to an end... but the night was young and we played poker back at the hotel with the french couple. we had really enjoyed our time here and planned to spend one more night in chiang mai.

our internet time is running out so will update you on the rest of the trip. We plan to leave ko tao on the 6th to chumpon and from there to krabi. hopefully once back on the mainland we will be able to get good internet at a reasonable price again....
