Off we went when we arrived on Sunday night and found a bar - an Aussie Bar or so it said!! We had a great night even if it started at 11.00pm, some of us haven't been up that late in a long time. There are many tales to tell but you will have to ask your respective friends or family what they got up to as I am sworn to secrecy - in fact what goes away stays away is our motto!! Just a few small snippets - Tracy and Sandra need to practice their pole dancing act if we think we are going to make any money out of it. Hayden needs to be nice to the hotel staff, Erin needs to remember what showers are for and I think that will do before I spill the beans completely.
Day Two - in the day time!!!
Some of us managed to get up on Monday, some of us didn't. We spent a relaxing day, walked down along the beach and went and booked all our tours for the rest of the week. Hayden, Nick and Ash went shopping in Patong, but somehow got stuck in a bar for
three hours socialising with the locals and not much shopping was done. Jenny and I hired a motorbike and went up to our Bob Marley bar where we enjoyed the view.
Today was a designated rest day so Tracy and Erin spent most of it by the pool resting and recouperating, but come evening time it was off to Patong for a bit of an explore and an eye opening local show!! Jenny and I opted for a more peaceful night wandered aroung Karon and then finished up sitting by the pool before heading off to bed!! The night out proved pretty eventful for the younger Team Thailand team members (Tracy included in the younger!!), Hayden in particular, but all survived.
Day Three
We hired a car today, a jeep that actually only seats five, but we managed to squeeze in all seven of us.
Off we went on a tour of the island stopping first at Surin Beach. We wandered down to our usual restaurant, the beach was just about totally deserted, and we were about to find out why. We sat down with our drinks and ordered lunch and watch while a massive storm drifted in
Robyn at Bob Marley Bar
Sorry Pete was left at home reading on the bed!! and we were forced to pick up everything and retreat into the restaurant and watch a massive wind and rain storm. We had lunch and then continued the drive, going through Raiwi Beach and ending up at the Bob Marley bar for a drink and more food. We are all going to be twice as big by the time we get home. There were a few tired bodies in the car and so we dropped them off at the hotel for massages and a relax and Jenny, Tracy and I went to the market at the temple and then went up to Bea's place which has a magnificent view of Karon Beach and had a drink.
We then caught up with everyone and went to the Red Onion for dinner which was good, though I think Ash is going to live on plain boiled rice for her whole stay in Thailand!! Then once again the younger ones headed into Patong this time for shopping or so they said!!
Turned out to be a quieter night with everyone feeling a bit tired and worn out - me in particular Jenny was making a cup of tea and when she turned around
Cocktail bar
Team Thailand takes over the VW Kombi Cocktail Bar I was already asleep - such is the life of a busy taxi driver!!
