Time to look back and remember 2008 has been the most amazing adventure l have ever been on and can't wait for it to continue. For people who know me the start of 2008 was all about change and since leaving the UK in July many changes have happened both inside and out. Being in Thailand for Christmas and New Year with people that have helped me enjoy life was like a dream come true and l owe you so much. Being away at that time also made me think and remember the people in my life.
So to everyone l have met at Campfire Safari's, Himichal Pradesh, Goa, Sri Lanka and Thailand so far on my journey thank you for making this time special. To everyone at home thank you for being there during some tough time and some even better times in the past.
New Years Eve on Patong Beach The table was booked for a meal at one of our favourite Restaurants on Patong Beach for 8pm and we were told we had to be there on time, but as normal we were all running around late again and finally
got on the Tuk-Tuk for the 20 minute journey at 7.55pm and with so many of us in the back of the vehicle it took longer with the hills, so we finally made it to our table at 8.30pm. Within minute we had a Mai Tai in hand and watched the night sky around us start to fill with Lanterns and Fireworks. Once we had finished our meal the plan was to stay in the Restaurant to welcome the New Year but we soon found ourselves walking along the busy beach to enjoy the atmosphere around us.
Sending our thoughts and dreams into the sky During the week we had brought each a lantern and spent time decorating it with messages to loved ones and wishes for the New Year. So one by one we lit the lantern and watched it float up into the night sky. This was quite an emotional time and was an event l will always remember.
5,4,3,2,1 Happy New Year The sky was filled so many Fireworks with all the larger hotels spending off hundreds of giant rockets into the sky, along with most of the beach
restaurants and bar joining in to. With all this colour, noise and watching the thousands of lanterns drift into the night, and a packed beach with thousands of tourists and Thai people welcoming the New Year it became a fantastic start to another new chapter in my journey. My eyes were amazed by the noise and the amount of fireworks that a small island could send up into the sky and with thousands of people on the beach and on the main road along the coast the atmosphere was electric and with everyone chatting to each other was a night that everyone became one.
Happy New Year to everybody wherever you are
