I'm not gonna pretend that I wasnt shaken up from our flight but I had to get it together so we could get to Koh San road to get our bus and boat tickets to the island. Well we had no idea Koh San is about and hour from the airport and we knew the bus left at 8. SO around 730 we pull up at Koh San and we hop out of the taxi and we race to find the office we were supposed to go to. Well we couldnt find it so we walked into some random travel office and we could book our tickets there!!! YEAH! It turns out we were the last 2 people for that nights trip. Out of the 300 people going we were the last 2, thank you!!! We were so happy and overwhelmed and just wanted to forget about the day. We went and waited for the bus and got something to eat. The bus ride was about 9 hours and we got to the pier at 5am the next day. The only good thing about being up at this time was being able to see and amazing sunrise. It was gorgeous. We
finally got on the boat and it started a little rough so I went to sleep thinking it would be better, but I woke up later not feeling so well. I had to run to the back of the boat where I proceeded to puke off the back. I joined many other in puking on that trip. The sea was a tad bit rough that morning. We finally arrived on Koh Tao, I still feeling a bit shakey but I was so excited to be at the beach and to see Jodi. She met us at the pier then we headed to our resort and our bungalow.
Our week there was amazing, each day we had a list, this is what the list consisted of:
Wake up whenever
lay in the hammock
walk to Blue Wind for breakfast (amazing food!!)
lay on the beach and read
take a swim when too hot
eat pineapple and grilled corn on the beach for lunch
read and layout some more
watch sunset
more hammock time
dinner and a movie
This is what we did everyday and I never got tired of it, mainly because I am VERY good at being lazy
and laying around. Also I am very good at eating. At home I was very consumed with thought of food and eating. Well since being in Taiwan this love of food has been lost, but I quickly found it again in Thailand. I love the food there, and on the island most of our topics of conversation was about food. Even though we went to the same place everyday for breakfast I always ordered something different and I was never dissapointed. Thailands food is great every place offers western and thai food and it is all very cheap and very tasty. One of my favorites was the huge fruit salad with apples, mango, bananas, and pineapple for a dollar. This is definaly a place I can see myself living.
We indulged in banana pancakes and everything else offered there. We had so much fun. We made friends with all the local stray dogs and they would walk us home everynight. We also did some minimal shopping, honestly! One of my favorite things was to go to the restaurants and watch the movies they were showing. They show all the lastest movies that are in the theatres at home. Since
Thailand is the land of copy movies. So we saw Stranger than Fiction with Will Ferrel, The Good Shepard ( i think, it wasnt very good), Dreamgirls and I forget what else. But I did buy lots of movies!!
Well not all great things happened this week, I did develop sun poisioning or heat rash, whatever it was, it was painful and I went to the doctor to get meds and I couldnt go in the sun for the rest of the trip. BOO! I have been in the sun so much of my life who would have thought I would have an allergic reaction to it. Maybe cause we were so close to the equator, but just a thought. So I did alot of reading in the shade, I still had an enjoyable time.
We did venture off the island once to another island nearby famous for snorkling. We saw some of the most amazing fish. We even saw a 3 foot barracuda, I was not a fan of that. The fish also can very very close. They were freaking me out, they were not very afraid of people. But I was afraid of them so I
got out of the water asap. Anyways I really couldnt be in the sun too much more. There were 3 island connected together by sand bars. It was soo cool and it was breath takingly beautiful, the pictures cant even do it justice.
Well our time had to come to an end at some point, even thought I seriously considered quitting my job and joining Jodi and Mike on their travels. I still am tossing the idea around, but I like making money. I'll travel there again later for sure. So Jodi took us to the pier and this time I was ready for the boat. I stocked up on magic drugs. Jodi takes them for seasickness so I took 2 and when we got on the boat I was out before we ever left the pier. They are amazing, good thing I bought a whole lot!!! I did not get sick at all and slept on the boat and the entire bus ride. I was so sad to leave, I am still sad. But the boat ride began our 24 hour journey to finally make it to my house. 2 hour boat ride, 9 hour bus ride, a
night in a hostel, 1 hour taxi ride, 3 hour flight, 2 hour bus ride and 30 min taxi ride to finally arrive in Dajia. And we were thrust right into the festivities on the Chinese New Year....never a dull moment.
