Lynda's Back On It!
Long Island Iced Teas for Two!! (Tina) Well can't tell you how happy we were to say goodbye to the cold of Ha Noi, we were so cold, although having said that enjoyed our time there, apart from the miserable staff at the hotel we stayed in, anyone out there reading this and going to Ha Noi, take our advice and don't stay at the Nam Hai 2, there are much better ones out there!
Arrived in Samui in the dark, stepped off the plane and the warmth just hit us, mmmm lovely. Had to get in a big tuk tuk type vehicle to take us to a beautiful little airport, all open air with the best toilets we have seen on our trip so far, it really was all lovely, after all those busy cities felt like walking into a little bit of paradise.
Went to get taxi and the woman said mini-bus or taxi and explained that for half the cost of a taxi a minibus did a tour of hotels dropping people off. what a great service. Checked into our hotel, Laem Din in Chaweng and it really was a beautiful place, the rooms were gorgeous and really big with a proper
Cheweng Beach
Our first Thai Beach shower cubicle and everything including satin cushions and throws on bed with a balcony and air-con, really impressed.
Lynda didn't really like the location of this hotel so we decided that we would only stay a couple of nights and go out the following day to look for another for the last four nights of our stay here.
Ended up in an Irish bar, drinking you've guessed it, LIIT's and have to say the best so far although still not up to the Hideout standard. Live entertainment here every night, got bikes home again although it wasn't very far to walk, better to be safe!!
Next day, missed breakfast as we didn't wake up until 11am, must have needed it though. Got organised and headed off in taxi for Bophut, Fishermans Village, where we walked for ages (miles in fact), tried lots of hotels only to be told that its high-season here and all full up. Eventually found one called Carpe Diem, no Matthew doesn't mean white women being ripped off, Sieze the Day actually, and you a grammar school boy as well!!
Another night in the Irish Bar with an Irish lad singing, really good
Lady Boys!
So beatiful...... who do you think we're talking about? entertainment but just as we were leaving I slipped on wet floor and ended up on my arse for the second time this trip. I can hear you all saying take more water with it, but wasn't drunk honest!!
Move to new hotel all went fine and to be honest all I have done is lay by the pool soaking up the sun and reading for a couple of days, but Lara Croft has been very active so I'll hand you over to her so she can tell you all about her exciting two days.
Just before I go have to tell you about our posh meal out the other night (Lynda's choice again, thought I was the one with expensive taste) went to a place called The Shack, both had steak and was gorgeous but cost loads of bobs, sorry kids, but have had to go native ever since to save a few Baht.
Hiya Lynda here, totally exhausted but in a good way. After spending two day sitting around doing nothing just the odd walk along the beach looking for glass for Julie and the odd dip in the pool for a few laps I
The Two Tina's
After they made up after their quarrel about who was "Simply The Best"!! was beginning to go stir crazy. So I l booked a day's diving with Easy Divers in Bophut. Was a bit nervous as this would be my first dive without anyone I knew and also I didn't want another bad experience on a big boat with loads of people. Anway I needn't have worried I was fine. I had a young lad (22) called Will as my Divemaster (was a bit concerned at the time as he'd only been diving for 2months!! But he looked after me and Marguarita (my buddy) really well so no complaints. The diving though wasn't all that, there were loads of fish but the visibility was really bad about 3meters at the first site (Sail Rock) and about 8 meters at the second site Koh Tao. Anyway lets hope The Great Barrier Reef is better or it's back to Egypt for me - coming boys!!
Today, I thought of all you boys and so wished you could have been there, you'd have loved it. Went on a sea safari, to various islands throughout the Ang Thong National Marine Park in the Gulf of Thailand. We went by speedboat about an hour's drive and then
pulled up at lovely island called Wao island ( it really was "Wow" for snorkelling for about an hour. Could see better here than 18 meter under!! I didn't have a clue what the fist were called so made up names for them - I saw the zebra fish (no prizes for guessing why I named it this! I also saw a fish called the "tiger" fish because it had a yellow stripe down the middle and (don't worry I won't bore you will all of them, most of which I've forgotten anyway) the kissing fish. I think this is actually an angel fish but yesterday when I was diving one came up to my mask and kissed me. Ahhhh...
Next we went to an island call Mae Koh and I found the lagoon from "The Beach" but I couldn't find Leo (sorry girls). I've never seen anything so gorgeous, if you looked one way there was a turquoise sea and the other way an emerald lagoon. The downside was that we have to climb over 400 steps but it was worth it. I say that now I don't know if i'll be able to walk tomorrow. Had a
Bond - James Bond
Unfortunately the skipper was nothing like any of the James' well deserved lunch after this and rested for about an hour, just laying around on a tropical island and swimming in the crystal ocean (oh sorry didn't mean to p*ss you off). After this we went canoe-ing (I thought it was going to be just a muck about but no) we crossed between three islands and it was quite challenging especially on the way back when the current was against us (David it reminded me of Jamaica).
The sea was well rough by the time we were due to come back and I felt like I'd been in a washing machine on spin cyle for an hour. We were having a race with two other speed boats and we won!!
Gotta go really need a drink. We'll blog again before we leave Thailand - we leave Samui tomorrow and then two days in Bangkok doing all the things we didn't do when we were there before - lets hope this time we get to the Palace!!
Love you all loads, See you in Bangkok (full circle). L&T xxx
p.s. We forgot to tell you when we were staying in Chewang we went to a lady boy
"The Beach"
I found it - but no cannibis and no Leo! show - so entertaining and beautiful people. Darren and Jimmy you would feel so out of place and awkward, Ben you'd love it and Kev (mummy says) you'd have been up there with them (the audience I mean)!! All in all really good fun look for the photo Tina meets Tina!! Plus others.
