Koh Phangan, Thailand

The only motive of going to Koh Phangan was the famous beach party - Full Moon Party, which happens on the night of full moon every month!

Instead of taking flight to Koh Samui (fast yet expensive way to the party), flying to Surat Thani by AirAsia will definitely a good choice for budget travellers.

Then, step out of the arrival hall of Suratthani Airport, there will be a booth by Phantip Travel (if no mistaken) selling combo ticket to Koh Phangan at 550THB (incuding Bus and Ferry). Without hesitation, we bought the tickets and jumped into the bus that waited outside of the airport. It took us around 1.5 hours to the jetty (Don Sak Pier). When we got there, we weren't sure about which way to go to our ferry. Well no worries, there's an Information Counter inside and we showed them our tickets, the friendly staff showed us which gate and when will the ferry arrive. From Don Sak Pier, it takes another 2.5 hours to the Koh Phangan (Thong Sala Pier).

Well, we haven't yet reached the beach where the party happens. At the Thong Sala Pier, there are plenty of vans or cars that waiting to take you to your hotel. As far as I know, the fare to Haad Rin Beach should be around 100THB.

Accommodation:
There are quite a few backpacker hostels and budget hotels around Haad Rin.
We were staying in Leela Beach Bungalows - a small and basic room fronting the beach. It's not a bad choice if you don't want so much noise at night as it is 5 - 10 mins away from Full Moon Party. Or if you love the music playing all night, there are some hotels lying at Full Moon Beach.

During the Full Moon Party, there will be Police blocking roads everywhere. If you are coming from outside, they will ask for 100THB for entrance fee. While you're in the party, get yourself a bucket drink and enjoy the loud music!

Apart from the famous party, its white sand beach is my favorite too where I can lay on and soak up the sunshine for whole day.

I'll be back again, for sure!!
