Getting on Long Boat, Krabi
Getting on Long Boat, Krabi It’s off to Krabi Thailand. A train to KL airport was going to cost more than a mini bus for 5 of us. Just as well, the airport is 70 Km from the city. The flight was only 1 hour 15 minutes and picked up in Krabi. In the carpark Christine was surprised to see our transport was a ute, the kids couldn’t believe their luck! 20 minutes down the coast, into a long boat and across to Koh Saboya. Another ute ride for 20 minutes and we were there.
This was one destination that I was quite nervous about. The website said no electricity and huts. As we arrived I knew I had got it wrong, not here long enough! This is paradise. No crowds, unbelievably peaceful and absolutely beautiful. It doesn’t have the long white beaches, so ignored by the masses. Electricity was connected in September, it will unfortunately change the island. About two thousand locals here and now their lives will be different. Everyone now haslights, TV and internet.
The view is out to Koh Jum and Koh Phi Phi. The beach is nice and coconut palms everywhere. Liam climbed one in his first five minutes,
Long Boat to Koh Siboya
Long Boat to Koh Siboya and in a short time we were eating coconut, freshly picked and opened. Mr Chung is fabulous to his staff, they are employed both high and low season and look like a big family. Accommodation is basic, but quite ok. Isabella says it would be better if they didn’t get the mattresses and pillows from the Flintstones!
At the end of the working day, Mr Chung got the male staff and our kids together for a game of soccer, with the female staff in stitches watching. They played for an hour and had a fabulous game, Harry in goals of course. Dinner was fabulous, it is nice to just eat and not cook.
After dinner Mr Ai got the chess board out, and not long after the kids dropped into bed.

When we landed at the airport, we were welcomed by our taxi driver. Walking through the car park, we saw a nice looking van and a horrible looking van. We all hoped it was the nice looking one to take us to the long boat. He stopped at a Ute, presumably to get his keys, and then told us to jump in. Mum said
were, not the back i hope??!" He looked uncertain when he said yeah. Corry, Liam, Harry and I were all so excited. We jumped in the back without a second thought. The ride to the longboat was very cool. We talked to a few very giggly school guys on the way, and raced them to the next traffic light. When we got on the long boat it was a fun ride to the island. We then hopped in the back of the next Ute. We got lots of funny stares and laughing as locals saw an Aussie family of 1 parent, 2 teenagers and 2 younger kids in the back of a Ute. Mum was too nervous to go in the back with us though.
When we arrived at the bungalows, mum informed us that she didn put on her seat belt, figuring if we crashed and died (in the back of the Ute) she would die as well. We all laughed at her, umm, i mean with her! After being there for half an hour, we were invited to their daily 5.00 soccer match. They were really good for a bunch of old and young men!!!! The next
