Well friends and Bloggees, Bloom and his bum have returned to the road after 4 weeks of blessed R'n R mostly with her lovely self.

After Lin disappeared into the bowels of Bangkok airport I returned to the city with a heavy heart and took the train back down to Chumphon where I'd left Koga Kit and some Kaboodle. Retrieved from the station left luggage room at 23.30hrs, got into a hostel by midnight and was up at 05.30 to catch the transport to the ferry over to Kho Tao. A small island in the gulf of Thailand which specializes in Scuba. Did a quick refresher on the same day as I arrived and completed 4 dives over 2 days before getting a bit of an ear infection. The water looks gloriously clear but it isn't just the fish that shit in the sea! So that put a full stop to more scuba for a few weeks.

Ferry back to Chumphon, 1/2 star hotel for 2 nights. And then the skies became sort of wet. The monsoon returned with a vengeance and my ride down here was possibly as wet as scuba diving but without the pretty fish. Cycling in a monsoon is an experience sought by few and probably quite appropriately, however among many new experiences I'm having on this trip, this is one of them! It was fun in parts. Bit of a curates egg you might say. 6 hours being completely drenched, wearing just t-shirt shorts and sandles. I commend it to any who find themselves down here in the season. Infact I have a suspicion that it's going to be wet from here to Cairns so I'd better get used to it.

And now 100km further south in a 1 eyed 1/2 horse town called Lamae. It'll do for the night but won't do for the Yule, such as I may get out here. Sob Sob.( by which I mean, smirk smirk of course).

All pics are back in UK with Lin. Harry her for a look if you want to avoid the awful possibility of a very long boring evening when I get back entitled ' What I did in my holidays'

Love, Nick/Cyclopath (with a touch of dampness about him)

Seasonal Greetings from Purley
Dear Nick Thanks for the entertaining blogs and real stories of heroic derringdo. For an educated chap like one's goodself it's life-expanding to discover and experience a few other cultures and as if that weren't enough, I expect during the monsoon conditions you are manufacturing a few new ones daily - patents pending. Anyway thanks again and enjoy Christmas as far as you are able. With massive pluck and determination you are well past the half way mark and maybe you will soon allow yourself to start savouring the prospect of jouney's end. Then what? Safe pedalling. No heroics and certainly no daring-do
But thank you Phil for your encouragement. The trip continues to be a blast. Rains have stopped. Sun's out and it's heating up down here at 7 degrees north. Then what? Not another ride like this, that's for sure. It's a 1-off. I'm 60! Already too old to think more than a day or 2 ahead. Happy New year. Nick
