Thursday 4 February
Up at the crack of dawn Leo takes rod and gear and moves the 15 metres to his personal Lakeside fishing deck to take the fish to task. The Thais use Float/Ground bait, dispenser method of fishing, and bread flake bait. (Many of us readers may be clueless, but hey!) With the back drop of the Misty Mountains, which had a huge white painted statue of Buddha featured Leo, with Paula as (reluctant, it must be said) assistant, spent several (blissful and engrossed) hours, soaking up the atmosphere and catching five (large and splendid) fish which would all be specimens (?) in Cyprus or the UK.Reluctantly leaving the Lake early afternoon, we lazed in the warm sunshine on our rustic veranda with Paula dozing in a hammock, reading, whilst Leo sampled a few Leo beers. This is as near to heaven as it gets, to coin the oft used phrase. Showered and changed, we met our friends and drove the interesting and short five minute drive back into the heart of Pai. Browsed, drank beer and decided to revisit last night's restaurant, but for Western food. Live band music, lovely twinkly lights and eager waiters/waitresses, we gorged on steaks and plentiful salad. Bill even cheaper than last night, with drinks, total equalled £17.00 per couple, we left very satisfied. Retired to our lovely chalets, we fell asleep to the sound of the fish jumping and splashing in the lake accompanied by the fountains in the ornamental lake. Hard Life X
