Phitsanulok Museum
Finely crafted toy buffalo for kids to ride Today we started bright and early at 9am (vacations rock!). Before leaving Phitsanulok we stopped at a folk art musuem that displayed historical artifacts of typical Thai life over the last 100 years. There were several interesting pieces (including a massive collection of coconut scrappers), but Cheri and I found it hard to really focus as the freshly waxed floor cause several spills. In addition, we stopped at the Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat temple which included a seated Buddha with a golden aurora. Many consider this the most beautiful of the seated Buddhas
We then continued our trek up North and eventually stopped at Sukhothai (another ancient capital) where we explored the impressive Sukhothai Historic Park. Outside of the ruins in Siem Reap (Cambodia) and My Son (Vietnam), these were the most impressive ruins of the trip, the highlights being the many amazing sitting and standing Buddha statues
Tomorrow we finish our roadtrip and head to Chiang Mai
