Pantip & Platinum
Pantip Plaza - the Sim Lim Square of Thailand & Platinum Shopping Mall - Huge aircon mega mall I seriously think it is terrible to travel with workaholics - as they would always be too exhausted from their work to have any energy left for other forms of travelling, shopping or fun.
Needless to say, the both of us slept through breakfast (missing out on our 1st hotel breakfast). By the time, we finally got ourselves out of the hotel, it was close to noon. Ha. So much for coming to the shopping paradise. Lucky for me, my friend is just as nau as I am (which means lazy-bummer in hokkien).
Pantip Plaza & Platinum Plaza
We decided to head over to A&W at Pantip Plaza to have our brunch. As I enjoy playing with gadgets and enjoy techie stuffs, my friend allowed me to go and check out what they have at Pantip Plaza (Pantip Plaza is somewhat similar to the Sim Lim Square in Singapore).
We checked out their different gadgets, and realised that the pricing is somewhat the same. Nevertheless, I managed to get myself a 32GB SD card at a good price of 500 baht. Ha. My friend was more interested in their games, however, after much browsing, we didn't
Van Terminal
Ways to get to Amphawa, surrounding to take note. managed to get anything in the end.
After which, we headed over to my favourite Platinum Plaza, as I prefer shopping in the comfort of air-con (the weather in Thailand is just too hot to be shopping in the hot weather), as compared to sweltering in the heat at Chatuchak. However, as we had overslept, we didn't spend much time at Platinum, promising that we would be back for the fun t-shirts on our last day.
Amphawa
As this was our first time going to Amphawa, I was so afraid that we would be lost finding our way around. Fortunately, the instructions and directions to the bus terminals have been so clear, we didn't get lost. Hee ^_^ We took the BTS Line to Victory Monument Station, and the
van terminals were under the bridge. It costed us about 80 baht each. The journey there was about 2 hours plus (do be prepared for a bumpy ride).
Unfortunately, we got to Amphawa too late, and we missed out on the floating market. By the time we got there, the main market had dispersed, leaving only a few food hawkers around. Despite the few choices, we had
Baanrak Amphawa
Baanrak Amphawa an awesome dinner and had a wonderful time walking around the shops.
After reading so many reviews and other online bloggers recommendations, I decided to try out this homestay -
Baanrak Amphawa. As the homestay seemed so homely and rustic, we had a blast during our stay there. Even though the owners were not able to speak English, we were able to communicate our intention to them - they helped us arranged for the firefly tour, the alms for the monks and our meals.
That evening, we headed out on a boat ride to see some fireflies. As I had seen a more spectacular sight of fireflies, I was more impressed by the clarity of the sky and enjoyed the brightness of the stars - the ride was a great way for us to unwind ourselves and take in the scenery.
After the ride, we managed to head back to the homestay. As there wasn't alot of occupants, they allow us have one of their room (room A) at a much cheaper rate. The rooms were situated at the front of the house, facing the river. This allowed us to have the front veranda to ourselves, we chilled
Amphawa
Food and sighting along Amphawa River - 2 and chatted to our hearts' content.
However, we got to wake up early the next morning, we decided to turn in early.
Soon, I would update on our last leg of our trip.... Stay tune....
