Monday 12th March, 2012.

I have arrived in Sri Lanka safe and sound, and I'm now at the Millennium Elephant Foundation in Kegalle with Amie! Ahhh!

Amie met me at the airport at 4pm and we got a lift back to the Foundation in a minivan. The MEF is in Kegalle which is about two hours from Colombo airport. Sri Lanka is so lush and green, she wasn't joking when she refered to it as a jungle! It's also ridiculously humid here, I think I'll lose weight just from sweating so much! Ewww, gross. Anyway when we got here she gave me a quick tour and introduced me to Kapilla, who is the mahout that looks after the elephant I'll be working with. She also walked me around the grounds to show me all the ellies eating their dinner - so cute! The elephant I'll be working with is called Seetha, she's the biggest girl ellie at the Foundation and is completely gorgeous! Sorry this blog is so poorly thrown together, I'm so tired! I can never sleep on planes, I think I managed to get about 45 minutes max. Ugh. I just wanted to let everyone know that I arrived safely and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in with the other volunteers tomorrow!

On another note, I don't seem to be receiving texts from the UK. I text mum and Sam today and I know t received them but I've not heard back. I'm not sure why that is :-/ So if anyone has tried to text me and I haven't responded, this is why! I'm sorry. Write to me on facebook instead, I will try to check it once a day!

I'm off to bed now. It's only 9pm here but I have to be up at 6.30am and I need to catch up on my sleep.
