Lost in Translation

So my coworker teaches a Business English class at a company for overtime 2 days a week. Yesterday a student walked into class with a blue folder, the likes of which you might keep recepits or important documents in. On the front in big black caps letters was C-U-N-T...

Of course this led to some laughing and mental head scratching from Lori's perspective. Yet she decided to let it go and get on with her class. But later she just had to ask the student what this abbreviation stood for. She said "Contents..." I'm guessing with the vowel sound O and U could be mixed up....maybe...

So Lori decided to explain in delicate terms that C-U-N-T is right up there with a few very bad English swear words. And the student looked it up in the dictionary and her eyes got huge and more than likely embarassed...

And she proceeded to scribble out the U and definitely replace it with the corrent and much more apporpriate O for CONT...

I sincerely hope that any Korean business people refrain from making this mistake, although it would make for an awkard and hilarious business meeting.
