The congregation The congregation The congregation

There were people underneath our balcony, as well as balconies behind us!
This morning we went to Yoido gospel church, one of the largest in the world with over 200,000 members! They have 7 services on Sunday, each accomodating approximately 20,000 people! Imagine going to church in a stadium and you will have some idea of the experience. Their church choir had over 300 people in it, and they had an orchestra to accompany them. They have a special "foreigners section" where using the headphones provided you can tune into the translation of the service in one of seven languages. It was incredible when the pastor said something and the whole congregation said "Amen". It resounded through the place. We could even sing along with the hymns because they had an english hymnal. It was a neat experience. We visited the bookstore which had a small english book section and bought "blue like jazz" which we are both enjoying. We bought some fruit and these pancakes with cinammon and honey inside them (I can't remember what they are called, but they are soooooo good) and had a little picnic in the park. Apparently its kinda rude to just eat in public like that, but we're foreigners and don't know any better. The park also had a statue to the King who invented their written language, called "Hangul". Then it was off to Seoul station for the train back to Daejon.
