... Après l'admiration d'un beau coucher de soleil, depuis les airs, j'ai atterri sur l'île de Jeju !

... After admiring a beautiful sunset from the plane, I landed on Jeju island!

Je me suis rendu à l'auberge de jeunesse The Forest Hostel, dans la grande ville de Jeju. J'ai eu la chance de faire la connaissance de deux Françaises super-sympas, en voyage tout autour du monde. On était dans la même chambre, du coup, on a passé des belles soirées à discuter de plein de choses intéressantes sur nos voyages et tout et tout.

I went to The Forest Hostel, in the big town of Jeju. There, I was lucky enough, to meet two very friendly French young ladies, travelling all around the world. We were sharing the same room, so we've had some really pleasant evenings talking about many interesting things about our travels and many other things.

Je suis allée au sud de l'île, dans un parc où, j'ai pu admirer 3 cascades impressionnantes! Je me suis, ensuite dirigée vers la côte, pour m'y promener un moment pour admirer ce paysage magnifique! Puis, je suis arrivée à cet endroit magique! Le contraste des couleurs reste ancré dans ma mémoire! Entre le noir des rochers de lave et cette incroyable couleur bleue de l'océan... C'était comme dans un livre d'enfants ou un dessin animé!

I went to the South of the Island and went into this park where I could admire 3 amazing waterfalls! After that, I walked by the coast to admire the beautiful landscape! Then, I got to this magic place! The contrast of the colours is anchored in my mind! The black lava rocks in this amazing blue colour of the ocean... It was like in a children's story book or cartoon!

Le soir j'ai rejoint Sarah, une copine de ma promo de Sup de Co La Rochelle. Elle effectue son expatriation académique à l'Université Nationale de Jeju. Nous avons dîné ensemble, avec une de ses amies Brésilienne super-cool!

In the evening I went to meet Sarah, a friend from my class at La Rochelle Business School of Tourism. She is doing her exchange program in the National University of Jeju. We had dinner together, with one of her Brazilian friend, who is really nice!

Après leurs bons conseils, je me suis rendu à cette plage, où, les contrastes de couleurs, du sable très clair, les rochers noirs avec parfois quelques algues vertes claires et les différentes couleurs de la mer turquoise, c'était comme être dans une peinture d'un artiste célèbre! Comme il faisait assez froid, je n'ai malheureusement pas essayé de me baigner.

After listening to their good advice, I went to this beach, where the contrast of colours was amazing! A light coloured sand, black rocks sometimes with some light green algaes and the different turquoise blue colour of the sea, was like being in a painting of a famous artist! As it was quite cold, I, unfortunately, didn't try to get in the sea.

Puis après avoir bien galéré avec les bus, j'ai fini par prendre un taxi pour me rendre à cette géante cascade qui se jette directement dans la mer. On se croirait dans un conte de fée! D'ailleurs j'étais tellement émerveillée en arrivant que j'ai appelé mon papa, par Facetime puis ma maman, pour partager, cette merveille du monde, qui se trouvait juste devant moi!

After struggling quite a lot with buses, I finally took a taxi, to reach this giant waterfall, which throws itself directly into the sea. I felt like I was in a fairly tail ! In fact, I was so marveled when I arrived, that I phoned my dad and then my mum through Facetime, to share this wonder of the world, that was just in front of me!

Le lendemain matin, je me suis réveillée tôt pour gravir le Mont Hallasan, le volcan le plus important de l'île (1950m d'altitude). D'ailleurs il est répertorié dans le patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.
À 9h40, j'étais au pied du volcan et c'est là, que l'aventure a commencé. C'est important d'arriver suffisamment tôt pour atteindre le sommet, car il y un shelter à passer avant une certaine heure, qui change en fonction de la période de l'année. Je devais passer le shelter avant 12h30 pour pouvoir arriver en haut avant 14h30, car après il est impératif de redescendre. Nous devons être redescendus avant la tombée nuit.

The next morning I woke up early, to climb up the Mount Hallasan. The most important volcano on the Island (with its highest altitude of 1950m). It belongs to the UNESCO world heritage.
At 09.40, I was at the bottom of the volcano, this is when the adventure began. It is really important to arrive early enough, in order to reach the summit, because we have to pass in front of a shelter, before a certain time. It changes with the period of the year. I had to pass it before 12.30, in order to arrive at the top before 2.30pm. After that time you have to start climbing back down again. We have to be back, at the bottom of the volcano, before the nightfall.

Le chemin est facile car tout est bien aménagé. C'est impossible de se perdre car on ne peut pas quitter le chemin à cause des délimitations faite avec des câbles, il me semble. Il fallait que je marche avec un rythme bien soutenu et sportif. Petit à petit la randonnée se complique, avec des chemins par forcément complètement plat, où il devient important de regarder où nous posons nos pieds. Puis plus nous avançons plus la côte se raidit. Heureusement la curiosité et la motivation, nous poussent à vouloir marcher de plus en plus vite, pour atteindre la première étape, afin d'avoir la sûreté de pouvoir atteindre le sommet!

The walking path is easy, since, it is very well convert. It is impossible to get lost because of the demarcations made with cables, I think. I had to walk with a sustained, sportive, rhythm. The hike, was getting slightly harder, with its paths that weren't always very flat and stable. Sometimes it was safe to watch where we'd put our feet, while walking. The slope was climbing stiffer too. Luckily, our curiosity and motivation, push us to walk faster and faster, to reach the first step (the shelter), to have the assurance of being able to reach the peak!

J'ai atteint le shelter à 12h05, je me suis arrêtée vite fait pour acheter à manger. Il n'y avait pas le choix, donc je me suis retrouvée avec des nouilles déshydratées au piment! C'était encore un challenge pour moi! J'avais absolument besoin de manger pour reprendre des forces. En y repensant, c'est vrai qu'en escaladant un volcan, il ne faut pas oublier l'aspect du feu. Cette fois le feu, je le crachais comme les dragons! D'autant plus, que je devais tout manger en moins de 10 minutes et ce, avec des baguettes, donc un vrai challenge!
Même après avoir passé le shelter je devais garder mon rythme de course, pour pouvoir arriver en haut et admirer la vue!

I passed the shelter at 12.05, but before, I stopped to quickly grab some food. As there was no choice for the menu, I had to eat dehydrated chilly noodles! This was a new challenge for me! I really needed to eat, recharge my strength up. When I think about it now, it's true that, when climbing a volcano, we must forget the fire aspect. This time, I was the one, blowing fire, like a dragon! Especially, that I had to eat them in 10 minutes and only by using chopsticks, so a real challenge!
After passing the shelter, I still had to keep up my race rhythm, to arrive at the top, and take the time to admire the view!

Je suis arrivée en haut à 14h, pile poile! Au sommet on voit le cratère qui est impressionnant et magnifique! Aujourd'hui ce n'est plus du feu, mais de l'eau, comme un petit lac. L'eau est d'une couleur bleue azure absolument inoubliable pour sa beauté! Le Mont Hallasan étant au coeur de l'île, nous bénéficions d'une vue 360°. Pouvoir admirer en une fois des montagnes la mer, sans parler des contrastes des couleurs, est une chance absolument splendide !

I finally reached the summit at 2pm, very precisely! At the top, we can see the crater, which is stunning and magnificent! Today, there is no more fire, but water, it is like a small lake. The colour of the water is blue azur, it is amazing, and totally unforgettable for its beauty! The Mount Hallasan, is in the heart of the island, which enables us to have a 360° view. Being able to observe, all at once, mountains and the see, the whole with splendid contrasted colours, is a wonderful chance!

Après ces 25 km à pied, place au repos, afin d'être en forme pour les derniers jours qui me restent en Corée du Sud. La prochaine destination est Busan!

After these 25 km hiking, it is time to rest, in order to be fit for last days I have left in South Korea. The next destination is Busan!
