We woke up around 9:15am Tuesday morning and met Emma at 10am in the lobby of the hotel to get some breakfast, since she works 12:30-8pm on Tuesday, where did we go??? Dunkin Donuts... we loved the bagel breakfast sandwich with cheese, egg and bacon and some donuts of course. The Asian breakfast of noodles or rice is not our thing.
After breakfast we got on the road around 11:30 and headed west to see the other half of the island today. We drove for about an hour to the other side and took the scenic shore road through the small Korean villages. Then we went to Sanbangsan, a beautiful volcanic mountain, that has a large Buddhist temple in the side of the mountain along with many statues at the base of the mountain. We climbed up the stairs to see the temple and drink the mineral water, no we didn't get sick from the water.
Next we ventured further around the island to find a Botanical Garden that Pete wanted to see. We went up and down some roads but never found it as the signs turned into Korean only. We went back out to the main road
and turned into a tourist area, BAM there was the Botanical Garden. It was pricey compared to what we were spending and I wasn't really that interested in seeing gardens since we had that in San Diego. As we got a snack at the local store I saw a sign for some more waterfalls. So we went in and bought tickets for that and it was amazing. Choenjeyeon Falls had 3 different waterfalls, a cool bridge, a pagoda, and a wishing fountain. We spent about 60-90 minutes there wandering around.
Once we were done with the falls it was about 4:30pm so we decided we would take the west road over the mountain back to our hotel. The road was call 1100 Meter high road. It was quite the ride and got very cold near the top. As we came down the mountain on the other side there was a tourist sign for Mysterious Road. We saw this sign a few times around the island pointing us in this direction and Pete's curiosity got the best of him. Supposedly if you stand in the road it appears that things are coasting up the hill and don't appear as coming
down the hill. LOTS of tour buses and people around watching/looking but we didn't see it happen. I was getting tired and ready to head back to the hotel so we left not long after arriving. Oh yeah they had a haunted house there that you could pay 2,000 won=$1.66 to enter. Pete started to walk in and the pay came out and said "Pay 2,000" quite funny what English people will through out, just when you think they don't know it.
We got back to the hotel a little after 6pm and decided we wanted the same Indian food we had the night before. It was less than 2 blocks from our hotel so a very easy decision to have it again.
