For one thing, it is an adventure in and of itself to travel with 12 co-workers, co-inhabiters for a weekend long single room stay. OK, in all fairness, the first night we had two rooms....one housing our Korean administrator, her friend, and 3 female foreign teachers. The other, the rest of us. You learn in a hurry who snores...and if you are reading this, you know who you are. Let's admit it, ev... Read Full Entry

A monk came down the steps as I finished this picture..."nice water"...he really said nice pagoda...I wish I would have picked up on this earlier so I didn't have to give him a blank, awkward stare

James quading

OK, in reality, this was a major highlight of the trip. We talked about it all weekend, but I lost faith that we would actually do it, amid the chaos of siteseeing. But we found some quads..and yes, you can just take them wherever you damn well feel like around the city. I had my first real surge of energy...my testosterone kicked in...and I became a quading menace. Poor James, trying to carefully cross the river without getting his feet wet. I came by moments later in the heat of the opportunity and sokaed the crap out of him. Later, big Koreans on little quads follwed Brianne and I around, squeeling tires...trying to scare the little white girls. I high tailed it toward a jump, hoping to loss him. It worked. He started yelling at me to slow down and I pinned it...caught some crazy air and landed on my two side tires. I pulled a donut out of it and stopped in a cloud of dust. They stood up and cheered, thumbs up and all. It was a good moment. Score one for the white girl.
