^{In a local (expensive) Chinese restaurant, I was surprised to find the same type of tongs used in the dining area and in the toilet (pics 2 & 3). I was intrigued so I had to ask what was their use (to Andrew's great embarassment!). Turns out they are used for the same thing. For what?}

Chinese restaurant called Thai Village

soon as the 12th night after xmas has passed, it's out with the Christmas lights and in with Chinese New Year decorations.

^{This morning, whilst taking Julia to her dance class, I passed and waved at the road sweeper who sweepss the same stretch of road every day and who we see every day. He reminded me of all the unnoticed people who sweep the leaves, tidy the flowerbeds, scrub the fountains, polish the floors, collect the rubbish, do the roadworks.
When I'm out, I try to make a point of noticing the unnoticed.
The road sweepers ride along with a bicycle & trailer, equipped with the faithful broom made with kindle wood.
Gardeners work in numbers usually and are covered up from head to toe.
Roadwork contractors are rarely too far away from their lorries. Lorries are small Toyota trucks that look like pick-up trucks with a tin roof. They are used everywhere to transport workers to and from their workplace. They are also used to carry materials.

thought I'd share some Singapore toilet tidbits.
Thanks to Cynthia for sharing her toilet signs pictures.
- They seem to love using cartoons to put their point accross about "good toilet manners" (pics 8)
- Some toilets are really quite pleasant like at the Zoo and in the Botanic Gardens (pics 9)
- Piece of advice: the toilets in the MRT station Chinatown don't have toilet paper inside the cubicles. You need to help yourself from the one and only toilet paper dispenser located outside the entrance. So "be prepared"!(pic 10)
