Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Although we were having an early start, we didn’t feel tired. Laura had pancakes and a fresh banana milkshake and I attempted The All American Breakfast. This included a hamburger and I certainly felt morbidly obese after finishing it. We decided to hire a motorbike of the day. Our conversation with the owner went something like this:
Me: Can we hire a motorbike?
Andrew: Sure.
Me: Neither of us have a driving license…
Andrew: Ok.
Me: …and we’ve never driven a motorbike.
Andrew: Shouldn’t be a problem.
Brilliant! Our beast was a black Xtreme Honda. I’d driven a scooter in India which was no problem but this motorbike had gears! I went up and down the road testing them out and it felt really comfortable. Our knowledge of the island was vague at best so Andrew talked us through where to go and what to see.
Riding through the rocky roads lined either side by palm trees in the heat of the day was blissful. The breeze cooled us down

Laura catching some rays. and we were soon in General Luna, the closest ‘town’ to us. We then hit the tarmac which was much easier to ride on an made our way west towards the capital of the island, Dapa. Dapa is a small port town and our primary reason for going there was that it is the only place on the island with a cash machine!
We walked around the town and checked out the markets. A small boy tried to pickpocket Laura…twice! We caught him both times and thought about throwing him into the sea. We got back to the Boardwalk and Laura went out for a surf. The waves were much higher than we’d seen so she got battered around. It wasn’t long until we were back on the bike and heading towards General Luna.
We stopped at a place called Patrick’s On The Beach. It had a cool shop and we decided to get some lunch there. The owner was German so I, of course, went for the Currywurst. It was pretty good, but not as good as eating in a cafe on Unter Den Linton in Eastern Berlin. The food was made especially pleasant by the awesome

We heard occasional wails and screams from a crowd further along the beach. We then realised it was Kyron doing some kite surfing because the winds had been fierce. Apparently, the whole school came out to see him and it took hoards of police to come and drag them back to school. The mayor even came to see him and told them the school could stay out to watch Kyron!
On the way home, we stopped at a cafe which had a nice surf shop next to it. I bought a pair of flip-flops. Laura went a bit mental and bought a 2.5kg wooden statue of a man straining for a dump. They did an awesome Philippino style chicken BBQ which tasted amazing. When we got back to the hotel we were shocked to see a creepy old American with his arms around a girl who looked no older than about 16. It was an unfortunate and depressing sight to see an example of the ever increasing trade that is prevalent in these areas of Asia,
