After the storm had passed I headed off to discover what the town had to offer. Its amazing you don't get 'hello mister' a million times as you walk down the street. Its a nice little town with a great walkway and seating area around the sea and some beautiful views. I booked to go diving to a sunken oil tanker and skelton wreck the following day, there are literally hundreds of wrecks around the area, many not yet discovered. For dinner it was noodles even though there is a wide range of western food here I still choose the rice and noodles you don't have expectations of them as much as western food and western food never seems to be quite how you expected it to be.
My day trip diving was a long day leaving at 9am and returning at 6pm but the dives were amazing! I wasn't able to do the first dive as it was too deep for OWD but they let me dive the oil tanker even-though it was 8m deeper than I was supposed to be diving. The oil tanker is one of the best wreck dives in the area and we were
able to go into the ship and through some of the rooms going in and out of port holes! We even saw an octopus. The second dive at skeleton wreck was less of a wreck dive but we did see crocodile fish! After the dives we took the hour an half trip back, they had brought a beer each for us, as I wasn't drinking mine the guys were bribing me for it but it went for free in the end.
After a shower a few of us went to a Bistro restaurant for dinner, they did an amazing pizza, home made base, got to get the important things right.
We then spent the night sat in the hotel bar swapping stories and plans. I decided I would go island hopping the next day with a couple of the guys, so after a late night it was an early start.
After organising the boat and having breakfast we walked over to the market to but fresh tuna, rice and fruit for lunch. Josh our caption for the day then took us around some of the best spots. We went to Twin peaks, Twin lagoon, Lancayon lake, a
great beach for lunch as well as another great snorkelling spot.
Twin peaks is a nice snorkelling spot which is free to enter (everywhere else we had to pay entrance fees), the current was strong but I saw the biggest clown fish I've ever seen. Twin lagoon isn't a reef as such but has interesting rock formations and a mixture of fresh and salty water. This makes the water hazy and you can't decide whether you are freezing or warm. And we spotted an octopus. Lancayon lake is again a mixture of salty water and fresh but the deeper you go down the hotter it gets getting higher than 35° at the bottom. Josh cooked our tuna while we were snorkelling then took us too a beautiful sandy beach to relax and eat.
After getting back from the trip I had my first hot shower in over two months! It was amazing! I could have stayed in it all day if it wasn't for someone waiting and wanting hot water. That night I was knackered so I spent the night trying to learn Indonesian from the lessons I've downloaded.
