No Everest, but that glacier in the center is what you have to climb up to get to the South Col, from which point you can summit Everest. If that doesn't scare you then you must be mad.

These birds came up to us looking for food halfway up Kalla Pathar. It was cold and 5400m above sea level and yet here were essentially domesticated birds. Weird.

Brilliant blog
I was there in November and even then, the temperature plummetted to -17 degrees at night time. It was just insane! Great pictures you have here, reminded me so much of my previous trip.

..and a great blog. I've painful memories of going above 5000m but I'd love to try this hike to Base Camp someday. Though perhaps not in December!
