After my great trip to India 3 years ago, I fell in love with the Indian Subcontinent and decided that the next country I wanted to visit would be Nepal. Only Hindu people can visit this temple and they have to leave the shoes outside.

This is the place where cremation of dead people is carried out. The holly river is Bagmati river. The ashes are thrown into this river after cremation finishes.

As only Hindu people can enter this temple, I had to stand at the entrance gate and took a photo of the bull.

This is the holly river and a man cleans his face with this water. Ashes are thrown into this river after cremation finishes.

The dead woman wore yellow dress and was placed on the ground, while her relatives were around her. They threw rice over her. At another place where you see fire, it was another body during cremation process.

It takes 3 hours for cremation. After that, they spray water and the ash would go into the holy river.

The holy river in fact just looks like a stream.

The dead woman wearing yellow dress was placed on the wood and her relatives were going to see her the last time. Next to it, another cremation just finished and the locals sprayed water so that all ashes would go into the holly river. There were much smoke at that place.

I stayed in Thamel which is crowded and noisy. I suggest you to find a guest house in Jathaya. I walked from Thamel to this area and saw some quiet guest houses there. You can expect US$8 per night for a single room. A double room costs US$12.
