We have been having difficulty getting the data sim card working. So we contacted Saroj who was going to meet us in Butwal and help us sort it out..

We ended up in the NTC Telecom building and even Saroj would look at me with an expression indicating he could not understand what the hell was going on!!

The chap said at one stage if i was a Nepali then he would not help but because we were foreigners then he would. good for us but bad for the locals... anyway long boring story short the data sim now works mostly... drops in and out fast and slow get very hot and is the source of much discussions and sadness. In hindsight it is really a case of disappointment management.

I seem better at hacking wi-fi so maybe stick with what works well.

After that Saroj said his parents were waiting for us at the village.. only one hour down the road and a short walk.. okay off we go...a little more than an hour and a 5km walk we arrived.. i was trashed sweating profusely and needing something that only God could provide.

After a cooling down period we had lunch with the

Wow this is a serious tree
family and they proudly showed us photographs of their recent trip they had to Australia to visit Raju who works in Adelaide. It was great to see and amazingly they even drove straight past our place to visit the Birdwood Motor Museum. Made us a little home sick.

Raju the wacker even took them to Pt Augusta in the middle of February.. Shit that would have been a little tragic although they seemed un fussed.

Raju's father summed up his trip by saying there is no rice growing anywhere in Australia.

After lunch we headed out through the rice fields to the village tree. Wow the scenery was so peaceful and the tree is a serious tree. Carbon dating has put the tree at over 3000 years old. Yes that is correct, not surprisingly a sacred tree. It doubles as very nice play equipment for the village kids and has done for ever. Saroj proudly showed off a fair sized scar on his forehead he received when he fell out the tree as a kid. Translating for his mother she said "she though he had broken his neck"

The villiage kids thought the foreigners were a bit of fun and we felt like the pied piper
