DIVE CENTREDIVE CENTREDIVE CENTRE

Ready, set, go!!
Had a wonderful afternoon snorkelling on the reef just off the island, so many colourful and pretty fish - something different every few feet - we all thoroughly enjoyed it and John took loads of photos on his Go Pro - finished off the arvo with a drink at the Sand bar and a swim in the infinity pool - the Dusit has the largest infinity pool in the Maldives - magnificent spot with a huge banyan tree in the centre of the pool. The sea life is in abundance, they are very protective of their reefs and sea life, so they should as it is a UNESCO site, the Dusit Thani has a resident marine biologist who educates kids as well as informing everyone about the area and going out on dives and snorkelling trips. Have an influx of people arriving today, 50 - all chinese, but the place is so well set up you hardly realise anyone is here except when you go to breakfast and see everyone. Sunday night back at Desmond's for fillet steak with blue cheese sauce (John's fave) couple of wines and kicking back. Today had a late leisurely breakfast - then met up with

Aren't they pretty!
Lauren the marine biologist, very interesting - lovely girl and very passionate about her job here at the Dusit, she is originally from Scotland and has been here at the Dusit for two and a half years, she knows her stuff about the marine life around the Maldives, and she is in charge re getting the Dusit their accreditation with Earth Watch (which is an Australian company), being environmentally friendly and there is very strict guidelines to get your resort accredited with this company - very big job for her - as well as informing and teaching from babies to adults, the dos and don'ts around the island. She has had some nightmare guests who have destroyed fish and turtles and she is always striving to educate people, some seem to be a lost cause even when fined huge amounts of money!! Had another snorkel out from of our bungalow this afternoon before a huge storm hit around 4.30pm - haven't had a drop of rain in the time we have been here only at night! Only two more sleeps to go boooowhooooh!!!
