Arrivng at Kuala Lumpur
On the fast train from the airport to KL Central Hi everyone.
After a tedious 12 hour flight from London we arrived in Kuala Lumpur. I hate flying and am very glad to be off the plane (for now!).
K L is a very modern city and the transport system is amazing. So with our backpacks hoisted for the first time we were off on the high speed connection from the airport into KL. It is very easy to buy tickets for the high speed train and only a short walk to the platform.
When we arrived at KL Central we had to make a decison - do we take the Metro or get a taxi? We decided on a taxi - wrong decision. We bought our taxi ticket from the official booth and we were immediately ushered into the next avalible car. The driver took our ticket and read the name and address of the hotel and signalled to us that he was ready to go. But afer a little while of driving around in circles, we soon assumed that he didn't have a clue where our hotel was! He couldn't even find the right street! He eventually stopped the taxi in despair and asked us to get
out! But Stuart wasn't budging. Out came the Garmin GPS and we soon had a rough idea of where the street was and guided the driver in the right direction. Not a good start.
After what seemed like a lifetime, we found our little hotel and after a good meal and an even better nights kip, we decided to walk the city. We had read that the best views were not from the Petronas Towers, but from the Menara Tower. What a great view and it's a good idea to pay for lunch in the revolving restaurant as the ticket price gives you a lovely buffet lunch and a fantastic view as the tower revolves.
After covering most of the city by foot and by Metro, we were dead on our feet. Tickets are now booked for the 3 hour bus trip and 3 hour boat trip to take us into the Taman Negara National Park - the oldest rainforest in the world! Can't wait to get out of the city and start exploring! The adventure begins here.

Who'd have thought: My Mum the Blogger
Congratulations on arriving safely. And an even bigger congratulations on working out how to write a blog! I never thought I'd see the day... ;o) A 3 hour bus trip + 3 hour boat sounds like proper backpacking to me - good work. Hope you have an amazing time in the rainforest - I'm green with envy!!! xxxxx
