There is a great place in Chulia Street in Georgetown for good food, drinks and to meet people.
The name of the place is Mona Lisa Cafe, run by a lady named Izumi Wong. It's a family business.
Located opposite the 7-Eleven near Love Lane, a few doors away from The Reggae Pub and opposite the Air Asia office.
The atmosphere is very relaxing with good music which is not loud. So you can still hear yourself think. This is not the place for you if you are looking for loud music, dim lights and noise.
The food is wonderful and prices are very reasonable.
Most customers are British. Locals aren't many, so that makes it a nice place for travelers to hang out and chat away.
If you need any help getting there, just drop me a line at email@example.com or call me when you are in Penang. My number is 019 4061520, which you can dial without any prefixes from any pay phone.
A lot of Rapid Penang buses pass by this cafe. Tell the driver that you want to alight at Love Lane. Get off the bus, walk pass a burger stand called Old Trafford and you'll be at Mona Lisa in less than a minute.
