TORPEDO!
That was our one, beautiful. Resemblance you ask? Ja I would say so. Home sweet home, well sort of. We caught the 2pm flight from BKK to Penang and yes, this time we made the flight, just. "Would passengers Lloyd Westly and Ryan Roberts, please report to gate 71 immediately!" You had to have your ice cream from 7 eleven hey Loopy. Last people but we made it and all went well. Arrived in Batu Ferrenghi at my lovely friend Kristinas parents house. We were met at the gate by her father Al who kindly allowed us to put our bags down before we embarked on a bike ride down the coast. Quite beautiful. Went into Georgetown for dinner, I was so hungry and the food was perfect. I had some tandoori chicken, lamb curry and dal on rice.
It is so so nice being in a proper house. It's incredible how you take softish beds, AC, lounge couches, anytime internet access and a clean bathroom for granted when we stay at home. Not to mention a shower with non detachable head with lots and lots of pressure and the best; toilet paper on demand!
Spent the next day not doing a whole lot. Perfect. Ryan and I have both been feeling very tired.
I think we might have some virus or something. I told Ryan we should cut down on the making out sessions but he would have none of it. Told you man!!
Anyway, Went to the beach. As Ryan jumped in the water he was instantly stung by a jelly fish and the 70 year old lady who was visiting for her birthday suggested he pee on it. We got some vinegar instead. Played some frizbee and lay in the sun. Went back to the house and then caught the hour long long bus to Georgetown to look for a return ticket to LAX. I am such an idiot. I should have bought one in BK when I was there. To fly out of Kuala Lumpur is 240 dollars more. Gees, well I did try buy one the day I left but the travel shops were closed due to the fact that it was a Sunday. How the hell was I supposed to know it was a Sunday, I thought everyday was Saturday! ehh, so not sure what I am going to do now. Bit of a predicament.
Al, our very gracious host took us the night before to try a
Just for you Kristina
We ate here everyday, really. torpedo. Well the shop was closed. But when we were in Georgetown the next day we thought we would repay the kind gesture and get him one. Ok, so you re wondering what a torpedo is right? As Al described it, 'it's from a bull and shaped like a torpedo, think about it' So we did and bought one. The Indian guy told us "very good, vvvery good, make you go all night, big strength" Hey, how can you resist!? We all had some. Not nearly as bad as the testicles. Really really chewy, strange texture. Like softish licorice, actually I have never eaten anything with that sort of texture before. The part that was a bit gross was that the urethra was solid and full of this black stuff, interesting. Good experience nonetheless.
Next day Ryan and I wake up at an early 12 in the afternoon. Checked our flight to Bali on the internet and decided to watch the Manchurian Candidate first. Bad idea because after the movie the flight was all sold out. Can you believe it. Yip I can. I thought the whole point of making mistakes early in your travels was to avoid them down

It really is/was. the line. Well not for me. I am an idiot, at times.
It is interesting how Malaysia tries to balance Islam with the govt. Al was telling me that if you are Muslim(it says so on your ID card) you are subject to different rules than non muslims. There are actually islamic police that can arrest or fine muslims for doing unthinkable things like kissing in public, eating during the day during Rammadan, not wearing a head veil thingy, eating pork etc. To become unmuslim takes two years during which time you have to go to classes. Men can have a max of 4 wives. What I found pretty disturbing was that by islamic law here in Malaysia, if a women is on her period her husband can have anal sex with her without her consent (wait, isnt that rape?). Refusing is grounds for divorce. Nuts man, nuts. Also if you are found in possesion of drugs or firearms it is a mandatory death penalty.
We've taken a bit of a liking to Iced Milo over here in Penang. Very good, very good. Catching the bus to Kuala Lumpar tomorrow morn and then an afternoon flight to Bali. Not bad,
looking forward to it I just hope Ryan and I are feeling a bit more energetic by the time we get there. Got to rock out with our clocks out for the last few weeks of our adventure. yeeehaaa
See you next month Kristina! You best be scared!

Thank you Al
Thank you Al for putting up the boys - after all the many hostels and worse they (esp Lloyd) really needed the comforts of a home. Please let us reciprocate any time that you are in the S. Diego vicinity.
