After a good time in Northern Thailand, the epic journey to Loas had to begin

Hour after endlees hour. I never want to see another bus as long as I live. We have to take a 24 hour one next week

This Stupa protects the city from evil sprits. We tried some Loas whisky...talk about an evil sprit

Woman's Day

The Monday after we arrived was woman's day. In honor of such, I chatted endlessly and lost all rationality...just joking ladies

Modeled after the Arc de Triumph in Paris, this is Loas victory monument (not sure what they won)

lots of the temples in Loas have dragon themes. If you would like to know why, try wikapedia

Mekong sunset

A classic sunset spot, but the sky was rather hazy and we probably got 50% of it. There would be plenty of others to follow

UXO

an ugly legacy. The western part of Loas is littered with unexploded ordananances, left over from vietnam.

Steyn, amazing stuff. I just discovered your blog this morning, sounds like you are both having an unforgettable experience. Kind of funny reading and seeing the pictures about your experiences in Peru,Machu Pichu,etc., I was reminded of a book you gave me years ago. "Fingerprints of the Gods", remember it at all? Anyways i just wanted to tell ya thanks for sharing the experiences and hope your travels remain safe.
