Today we left the small town on the river Mekong and headed for Luang Prabang. At seven am the children from the village were waiting eagerly to take the bags to the jetty, some of them looked very young but our guide assured us that is what they do and that they would be offended if we didn't let them take our bags. We meandered down the river which looks quite treacherous in places with large rocks jutting skywards and swift rapids in places. The weather was extremely hot and even with the breeze from the boat moving along we were all still baking. Lunch was cooked for us on the boat by the boat owners wife, in true Laos style and was delicious. In the afternoon we visited some caves where Buddha's have been brought for centuries. Then onwards to Luang Prabang where we arrived at our hotel which overlooks the river, it has beautiful gardens and a very serene atmosphere. In the evening we took a minibus into the town for a meal served in typical Laotian style.
