We arrived in Luang Prabang on Saturday 7 April after a 7 hour bus ride from Vang Vieng that took us through winding roads in the mountains. After finding somewhere to stay on the main road, we went out for an Indian dinner before returning to our room to watch three Premiership games. On Sunday, we hired mountain bikes for the day and explored the town. It's a very small, quiet town with a lot of old buildings and temples/pagodas. After a couple of hours riding, we stopped for a drink by the river before returning to our hotel. That evening, we had a nice dinner at a restaurant where we tried a few different local drinks. On Monday morning we went elephant trekking. We sat on the elephant for an hour while we were taken through some forest and a section of river before returning to base. We then fed the elephants bananas and had our photo's taken. Since we had a spare couple of hours, we walked around the local village and even went into the local school where we saw different aged children having lessons in their classrooms. Our next stop was the river where we began our 4 hour kayak trip. As it was dry season, the river was not in full flow so this meant that a lot more effort was needed. After returning home, we freshened up before going out for dinner and drinks. On Tuesday morning, we took a tuk tuk to the airport for our flight to Chiang Mai.
