The last blog ended with me just about to begin the trek through Tiger Leaping Gorge, so fittingly, that's where this one begins! I caught the bus with Janet - travelling from Zhongdian to the starting point of the gorge where we left our packs ... Read Full Entry

Enjoyed the blog
Hi, I'm an Aussie, living in Canada and longing for Laos! Enjoyed your blog and will continue to live vicariously through you until my time comes to return to Asia. You write very well and I am interested to hear about your travels as you have hit many places I missed. Good inspiration for next time. Anyway, keep enjoying your travels and thanks for the great read!

Hey Andy, loving the photos as always, esp the sunset one . Dani just text me to tell me you had updated (actually I am textin her off net and reading your blog at the same time!). Gona read through the blog through the course of the day. Managers are going to catch me. One thing - where are the photos of you and Dani? A big cheesy one of you both next time, eh? All the best. Safe travelling.

Hi Andy Great read. I'm heading up that way in a few weeks and was inspired by your trek in Muang Sing. I want to do something similiar. Could you tell me how you organised the trek and how much it cost? Thanks very much. Cheers Mick

Reply to Scott
Hi Scott - thanks for your msg - I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the trekking company in Muang Sing - but it's very easy to find as it's on the main street of pretty much a 1 street town and is the largest trekking outfit. They're next to a company called Ecotrek or something similar. Very strict on responsible trekking, they charged $35 each for a party of 6 (max 8). If there are only 2 of you, it cost $47 approx. as cost obviously drops the more there are of you. This is for the 2 day trip. I'd recommend the 3 day trek tho as you cover the same distance in more time! Have a great time - I'm hoping to head back there now. Cheers, Andy

hi from one who biked some of this
My cousin and I bicycled from Vientaine to Kunming in 2002 (or was it 03) and your blog brought back some great memories. We also traveled by bus to Lijiing and Zhongdian and hiked Tiger Leaping Gorge. Quite a thrill. Thanks for posting. And an added thanks for the photo of the Beer Lao, which I miss dearly...!
